which is a shitty point because the family suffers emotionally
families suffer emotionally from suicide
families suffer emotionally from suicide
cool?
families suffer emotionally from suicide
This has to do with, what?
cool?
so should attempted suicide be a crime?
And? Society shouldn't support the idea that we should treat bodies with respect; it's a waste of money, time and emotions.
I almost hate to find myself agreeing with kopimi but WOW you're pretty god damn sociopathic dude
literally no wasted money and the time/emotions are the families to waste
What. This makes no sense.
No there isn't, you'll be dead eventually and none of it will matter, thus nothing you do while you're alive matters either.
Well yeah life is inherently pointless, but as we can probably agree that humans can be hurt, we should be rational and believe it is bad to hurt other humans.
so should attempted suicide be a crime?
no, it's their life to take. the corpse isn't this artists to take tho

I actually went and saw the exhibit. There were corpses turned into just about everything imaginable. One of them was a fairy if i'm not mistaken. The back bones were all flayed out to look like wings.
What. This makes no sense.
if you can't read past a 3rd grade level yeah it might be a bit confusing, let me break it down into small snippets you can absorb:
- there is no money wasted by not using the ashes of a corpse to paint
- if a family wants to waste their time and emotions on being upset, more power to them.
neither of your points did anything to justify the artist desecrating a corpse

i know you're not implying anything but just so that nobody says something stupid: all the bodies in body worlds were donated by the person before death iirc
It's about what it represents, not what it looks like.
I can say that my roll of duct tape represents the slaves that were oppressed in America and all of their hardships, but unless I etch a picture spanning the entire roll, it is not art.
This is just a rectangle. A rectangle who's creator is using a controversial subject to promote.

The natural history museum had an exhibition (not sure if it's still on) created by the same guy who does Bodyworks, but with animals instead. It was amazing. The main attraction was a plastinated elephant, which I touched when a security guard wasn't looking.

Also, if this can be art, so can videogames.
Art takes skill, gimmicks take people.

There is a difference between raping someone who is alive, and so can feel, and raping a dead body.
Let's say someone shoots you without you having any idea of it. That's okay right?

All your points basically come down to "wah wah emotions." Do whatever the fuck you want with your life, but this artist wasn't actually harming anybody and so is free to do whatever the fuck he wants too. There are things in life that cause serious emotional damage, and having someone you knew's remains being used for art is not one of them.
Let's say someone shoots you without you having any idea of it. That's okay right?
Taking another person's life without their permision is not the same as fucking a dead body.
Let's say someone shoots you without you having any idea of it. That's okay right?
There's no point in arguing, he's one of those ~angsty~ kids who's lives ~revolve around death~.

all of your points come down to "wah wah i hate emotions i'm a nerdy sociopath on the internet"
i'm pretty sure if someone has a say over what to do with the body, it's the family, not some random artist
i'm pretty sure if someone has a say over what to do with the body, it's the family, not some random artist
why?

we r all dust in the wind (please buy my band's garage-punk-screamo cds at hot topic this sunday only $4.95)

But the pain doesn't actually exist so it doesn't matter, it's all just chemicals and shit.

What permission? He's dead.

What would they benefit from having the body?
How are they seriously harmed from this?
why?
because i think if anyone is supposed to be given any amount of control over the body it should be the relatives who have lived with and known that person for life rather than a stranger going gravedigging
I propose that if consensus is given by the family and the person has given their permission to have their body donated to 'insert cause here', then it's okay. In any other case it isn't.
What would they benefit from having the body?

idk maybe they feel good about knowing the body isn't being skullfucked or painted on or used in paint
and yeah maybe they are seriously emotionally upset by this ordeal. families of rape victims get awful worked up even if the related family members weren't actually victims of rape. i know it maybe hard for you to grasp this what with your stunted emotionally and likely physical growth but most well adjusted human beings do feel emotion and will be very upset to know their lost relative's corpse is being desecrated. nobody really gives a shit if you're a sociopath who can't feel emotion or sympathize with other human beings, thats the way it is
What would they benefit from having the body?

Oh god it's so pointless trying to argue with a nihilist
Oh god it's so pointless trying to argue with a nihilist
Now you're getting it!
What would they benefit from having the body?

It's their possession unless otherwise stated.
Now you're getting it!
why don't you just go back to your high school anime club and talk about how the girls that are rejecting you don't really exist or something like honestly you're not contributing anything to the discussion other than a warning to all other posters never to rely on you for emotional support
It's their possession unless otherwise stated.
No technically it's still the previous owner's possession unless he signed it away to them.
