Neopets data breach from 2012 includes over 70 million accounts

I can't believe that site is still around. I remember playing that shit non stop for a while back when it was brand new. I used to play some game where you could win treasure map pieces, and then I would sell those and buy codestones or whatever.

Well, it [I]did[/I] start as a site targeted for college students, before all the kid-friendly stuff came in.

The plot events are usually more serious than the regular games.

My account was registered to an email address I lost access to over a decade ago, but I played a ton of Neopets in uni until cereal ad minigames started happening and the main square suddenly had fucking Lucky the Leprechaun standing right fucking there.

I had even managed to get a rainbow brush for my Shoyru. Where I fucked up was, in an attempt to be clever, I intentionally entered the wrong birthdate. And then forgot what I put.

If someone managed to take over my account from a pre-purge breach or something, they're welcome to my little collection of old-as-FUCK items (which I imagine would make the time-exclusive ones at least a bit rare) and my pets that would have been clinging at the edge of death by starvation by the time the hacker got in.
