China backs NK, which concerns me.
Does SK have a missile defense system? If not, they should think about getting one, since they are likely going to be the ones that'll get nuked if NK ever decides to go full retard
China backs NK, which concerns me.
Even China voted against them in the UN last round of sanctions
Just when you think North Korea is doing better with all of their economic reforms and lighter tourist restrictions, they start to prepare for war with South Korea or whoever their citizens are brainwashed to hate.
It's kinda disappointing how lightly everyone takes North Korea. I totally understand the jokes (and love making fun with the beloved leader), but North Korea had the potential to cause very real damage. The US had always been NK's #1 enemy, but I'm sure if there's an even half competent person in the country, they would know that getting one missile to the US is unlikely. So they would turn to the closest US 'puppet', which is South Korea. Seoul is just a stones throw away from the DMZ. If North Korea has a missile that can deliver a bomb over the border, then they can take out Seoul, and kill millions. And while the US would definitely steam roll their sorry malnourished asses, it would take time, and only after the North Korean army advanced a fair ways South.
That same half-competent person in NK would also realize that pulling through with any nuclear aggression towards South would achieve nothing to support their cause and would probably spell the end of their nation as it is today. What they may actually have to gain from waving their nuclear dick around is leverage in negotiations, in particular with regards to the various trade embargoes and the foreign aid NK currently receives.
War would be baaaad. Even if the war is relatively bloodless and painless and quick and there's no insurgency anywhere; intergrating North Korea into the rest of the world would be absolutely devastating to whoever is funding it's economy. Think the German reunification times a thousand.
Title neglects to mention that this is a rumor. Sounds like sensationalism to me.
It's only a test, they've done them before. I just hope they film it this time so I can watch more nuke footage.
That's something i'd like to see. A nuclear blast in 4K or even IMAX.
fun fact: 1 out of 8 Germans want to rebuild the Berlin wall because to this day Germany is still updating the east's infrastructure to be on par with the west's if the north Korean government is defeated south Korea will be under immense economic strain as they now have to deal with the north Korean people

Isn't Seoul targeted by a couple of hundred of artillery pieces at all times?
Isn't Seoul targeted by a couple of hundred of artillery pieces at all times?
They do
According to one report, a South Korean security analyst suggested that DPRK artillery pieces of calibers 170mm and 240mm "could fire 10,000 rounds per minute to Seoul and its environs." The number of Koksan guns is not publicly reported, but it is reliably reported that North Korea has about 500 long-range artillery tubes within range of Seoul, double the levels of a the mid-1990s. Large caliber self propelled artillery pieces typically have a sustained rate of fire of between four and eight rounds per minute. This suggests a total rate of fire of artillery alone of between 2,000 and 4,000 rounds per minute. The DPRK's two hundred 240mm MRLs fire either 12 or 22 rounds, providing a maximum single salvo of no more than 4,400 rounds.
Imagine a city of 20 million being hit by thousands of artillery shells each minute. In my mind it looks among the most apocalyptic scenario imaginable short of a direct airburst nuke going off.
for north korea
Im tired of saying this. Innocent lives of men, women and children in North Korea who does not like their government are going to die if a war breaks out. Its not a joke.
No matter what happens, if a war started Seoul would be utterly destroyed. No matter how quickly the US, NATO, or SK could respond.

They'd get completely bogged down in logistics hell, and they'd blind their entire defense line once the Sun goes down. Also NATO initial response forces tossing modern bombs at them. It might sound like they got a force capable of raining down hell, but trust me, if Sarajevo stood against millions of shells for five years, Seoul and South Korea's armed forces, along with an instant NATO involvement will beat them back faster than you could pronounce a North Korean propaganda sentence.

As they always are. Just need to be loaded and fired. Which probably will happen the very second war is declared. Even one single barrage from them would cause pretty massive casualties in a densely populated city like Seul, and they'd probably be able to fire at least a couple shots each before counter artillery can find and fire on them.
Mission accomplished! Dear leader will be proud.
Fake, too many crops for NK.

Why can't everyone cut them off till they come crawling back on their knees ready to do anything to get whatever help they can? Im not for harming the entire country as a lot of innocent people might be hurt but we seriously need to get them in check.

They will inflict casualties, but in the long run they won't carry out nothing but infrastructural damage and civilian casualties, which, if you took the entire city's size in account, would be rather ineffective and would just lead to wasting of ammunition, which is a grave mistake in prolonged warfare. But wait! There's more. Imagine what it'd be like sitting on an artillery mountain during night time? Yeah, some people nearly lost their vision permanently after an ordinary battery fire during the Yugo wars, imagine what it'd be like seeing a hundred howitzers all fire at once. Not exactly something you'd want your entire armed forces to be stationed around during war time. [editline]1st February 2013[/editline]
A limited supply of "modern" bombs might I add, right now their stockpiles are just horribly insufficient to wage war against nothing but insurgency.
Precise armaments are more effective than mass artillery barrages. It's what led to tons of aggressor countries losing in wars.
What happened to them wanting to be our friends? Wankers.
I'm actually quite worried about this, NK is going full on with this, and will cause enormous damage to SK. Not only that, but the US will intervene, and who knows what NK will do next.
I swear shortly after he came to power, he had wanted to reach peace with S.K. and the rest of the world. Maybe I misread something.
Why would they do a surface test? If they did, they better get some HD footage.
We're lucky if its even in color.
We're lucky if its even in color.
Maybe someone will make a painting of it?
I wish they weren't still living in the 1940s, there is no need to do a test because there won't be a WW3 in my life time, they are just adding more radiation to the atmosphere, get with the times you cunts!
Am I the only one that thinks Kim is completely ignorant of the fact this kind of shit is going on? More so him knowing how much the people don't really like him. Like he's just a face while the real government plots behind his back? Like I read Kim likes to play video games and shit, I doubt he would just decide one day "Okay let's test nukes and start a war"
