I don't really understand how you are trying to contribute to the thread nor do I see anyone relating "black people" to being "unemployable" stated in this discussion. I just don't think it's right to try and downplay someones argument you don't agree with by using a straw man.
ive heard 'straw man' is a good description of nigel farage in bed
a bit of retaliation is healthy if we stood back and did nothing, that would be a dangerous situation take Sweden as an example: it's really sad
The thing that concerns me is the casual racism that my parents show, like my dad will just be listening to the radio and it'll mention some kind of thief and he'll say "I bet it was a Romanian, they're just raised that way in that country." It's quite terrifying, considering they were meant to have grown up during a period of tolerance and acceptance.

It's quite terrifying, considering they were meant to have grown up during a period of tolerance and acceptance.
The UK has a crime index of 39.78, Romania has a crime index of 30.02. The UK is also considered a less safe country as a whole. So going on a general basis we could say that there is less crime in Romania than the UK. However there are two problems, firstly Romania is vastly poorer than the UK - what is the likelihood that crimes are not reported? Secondly, it doesn't give us any sort of idea of what Romanians that come to the UK are like. It's quite hard to get figures on ethnicity and crime, particularly because Romanian's would often register as 'White other' and fall into the same category as all other Europeans. However, the Telegraph reported from ACPO (the Association of Chief Police Officers) that of the 27,056 Europeans convicted of crime in the UK in 2010, 4,343 were Romanian or 16%. Romania being a country of 19 million of the EU's 503 million - or 3%. So we could point out that Romanian's are more likely to commit crimes than other European immigrants, but this would be inaccurate given the number of Romanian's in the country compared to other nationalities. There is also the infamous "statistic" that one in three Romanians have been arrested in the UK. But I can't find many official statistics for this and refuse to accept it until I can. It's proven that A8 countries are hard workers, from the above statistics and given how many Polish people came to the country - we can see that approximately 1%*, if not less, of those people came and committed crime. Crime is therefore not a reason to keep people out, but I do think immigrants should be properly recorded upon entry - so if crime is committed, their record can be traced so they can't feign confusion or a lack of English. There is already a lot of crime in Britain and it certainly doesn't need to be added to. What your dad is saying isn't necessarily racist and I can see from media coverage why he would be led to believe that Romanians are more likely to commit crimes, it's just an area that I think is hard to be exact when the statistics aren't exactly forthcoming. [editline]a[/editline] *This applies to Polish people who are unrestricted in coming to the UK. Currently there are 59,000 Romanians in the UK, 7% of whom have committed crimes. Romanian immigration to the UK is currently more highly restricted, how would we expect that % to change when the borders are opened up?
Just want to point out migrants mean people who move around a country and immigrants means they between countries
Just want to point out migrants mean people who move around a country and immigrants means they between countries
Migration is the movement of people, thus a migrant is someone who moves - immigration is the movement into a country or region within the same country and emigration is the movement out of a country or region within the same country
I have nothing against foreign people coming to live over here in England to work jobs which us lazy Brits won't work. I mean my window cleaner guy is polish and he's an alright bloke, but over the last few years there has been a large increase in Polish people around my area. I'm not having a go but sometimes I feel like I'm walking through Poland with the amount of people speaking the lingo. I don't know, I think they need help getting back to the countries they came from, because a lot of them moved to Britain in search of work but didn't actually find any, and now they can't afford to get back. I think all the idiot Brits have noticed the increase, and their nationalist tendencies have begun to flourish. I have Probably now offended people, my sincerest apologies if that be the case.
