*Completely fucking explodes in rage* Goddamnit, Bobby Kotick is making HOW FUCKING MUCH!?! For probably the worst and most overrated series today?!? Call me overreactive, I dont care, this fucking douche must be removed. He dosent even deserve all that money after killing so many developers and shitting on so many franchises. Im still waiting for the day when Activision's employees, pissed off by the unfair payment, go on strike and derail the whole fucking company. What pisses me off even more is that Kotick is pretty much the ultimate greedy CEO Supreme douchebag of the earth, which gives a million more hate points.
What a double faggot nigger cunt butthead I don't have the ability to create any more harshness from the english language really.
Because he's good at taking credit for everyone busting their asses underneath him? "Value" is incredibly subjective. The moment, say, the power goes out, Bobby Kotick is literally the most worthless human being on the face of the planet, and a plumber becomes one of the most valuable. Whatever the fuck he actually does himself, undelegated, in a given day, there is no way in hell it's objectively worth $65 million. Not when he doesn't contribute any direct work to actually creating the (shitty) products that make the company money.
Right. Value is subjective, and the company values his skills enough to pay him a lot. The end [editline]7th May 2013[/editline] Btw kotick doesn't go around saying "uh this dev is closed now..." so all this hate is crazy blind
Ah yes, a dutch celebrity. Where would we ever be without the antics of a dutch celebrity. A name of a truly unforgettable and unreplacable person. [editline]6th May 2013[/editline] Besides, a few million is chump change compared to 64 million a year.
I'm just stating what he said, because I think it's a interesting view on the case. Don't have to be such a dick about it.
CEOs had to work like crazy in the early part of their career, like sleepless workweeks, building relationships, selling products, trying to get to the position hes in now. Now hes there, true he doesnt have to do much, he has a team of people doing that for him, and hes probably overpaid too. But hes worked harder than anyone here, otherwise he wouldnt be CEO of Activision. [editline]7th May 2013[/editline] that isnt to say hes not a colossal cunt

I think making business like this the absolute highest paid profession and managerial positions a higher standing than other forms of jobs, productive, creative, construction or manufacture, or what have you points to people under valuing the other professions i don't see what justifies this ridiculous level of pay over anything else by so much. I don't think undervaluing other professions is a good thing for society in the long run either
I agree $8 a second is insane and most of that should be passed onto the other workers in the company via a bonus at the end of the year or whatever. But obviously managerial positions are higher paid because not everyone can do it. You need leadership qualities above everything else, and be a master of the money-making world, running a business of thousands of employees, again he probably doesnt need to do that now but in his early days he did. I definitely couldnt do it, the pressure would be insane. Youve also got to have the incentive to get to the "top". If a managerial position was paid the same as a CoD developer... whod want to be the manager? What would be the point? Working your arse off under immense stress for no further reward? If I owned the company, and I was paying all the workers the same as my pay... thats just as unfair. I set up this company, I gave these guys jobs, I made all these contacts... I sure as fuck deserve more money.
I could do that guy's job for a month and literally nothing about the company would change. "Work on the new game going well? Okay, cool, carry on. Developers overworked and need to hire more people? CFO, see if we have enough money. Gamestop executive wants to set up a golf game? Talk to the secretary." At least CFOs and other executives have to directly manage a department and maintain an accurate, up-to-date understanding of what is going on, and actively work to solve problems they are responsible for. CEOs do jack shit except "make decisions", which literally anybody can do, especially when you have a whole team of people analyzing the decision and telling you which option is the best. It's the easiest fucking job on the entire planet.
It a CEO was that easy to replace then the job wouldn't pay that much if he is earning that much it means that he is running the company right, maybe not right morally but right in the faces of the shareholders. CEO does a lot more than just sit on his ass he co-ordinates the company and he doesn't just ask the CFO how its going he needs to know how the accounts are by himself make profound decisions that would benefit the company which i doubt you could do. and if you say just release another game that's not what a successful company only does they have multiple stakes in other companies that help bolster their funds and other obligations other than just going "HEY LETS REHASH COD AGAIN HO HO HO"
I just wonder what super rich people like him do with all the money. Most seem to live a relativly modest life it seems. So what do they do? Just fap to their bank account?
Regardless of what you think about Activision, he's doing his job right by the stock holders.
But screw the stockholders; he needs to serve the people's interests, rather than the interests of the Gold Zombies who just want gold. "Gooooooold" etc. Still, haven't heard much recent bad stuff from Activision recently, but I still stand by the attitude of "evil until proven otherwise".
I feel like judging by the things I like to do, I don't really anymore money (I make around 40k/year). I can afford a nice bike, a computer, internet, a car, ect. There are 3 things I could see myself wanting, I guess. a house on a lake with a boat. That would be nice. Really nice :( If I made as much money as that guy... idk. I'd just travel around all the time and see the world. Even then I would have enough money leftover to buy 3 MLB teams.
Also i bet they did save a ton of money using the same engine since Cod4.
Just like valve and source? Oh.... wait, they both tweak their engine for each of their games
Isn't kotick the CEO of the coca cola company? Why the fuck would you need a pay rise if that was your job?
And EA is named worst company. That's fair.
Regardless of what you think about Activision, he's doing his job right by the stock holders.
Creating games for stock holders rather than the people who play them will destroy the company over time
If I would have made 65 MILLION in 1 year, I'd retire and live on the millions. Instead of pumping out the same game every year.
Isn't kotick the CEO of the coca cola company? Why the fuck would you need a pay rise if that was your job?
He's a director for Coca-Cola, not CEO. Also he's been CEO for Activision since 1991 when he purchased 25% of the company - Infinity Ward and Call of Duty were created in 2002 from Activision investment. The meteoric rise of Activision is attributable to his leadership, why doesn't he deserve to earn this much money?
I know man, microsoft makes ton too but they sell their windows 7 and windows 8 discs for like 200 bucks that's outrageous and really greedy
There's a big gap between a few maps and a full blown operational system containing multiple sets of programs that need to be updated for a lifespan of more than 7 or so years. I doubt a cod game gets patched after its first three months. Not even accounting for codecs and other things they need to license. It's just not worth selling retail for them if its not for this price, since OEM sales and company licenses are more lucrative.
