Destiny is a really depressing game. Every time I boot it up I think "I want to like this game, the shooting is good, the enemy design is pretty interesting, and the art is beautiful. It's just too bad I hate everything else about the game." The more I think about it the more I wish I could like it but the more I think about it the more I hate it.
It's fucking €100 for a game and 2 expansions and they're all severely lacking in content, and now they've got a €40 'expansion' coming out and Red Bull tie in DLC. I'm glad I just bought the base game, and the more shit they come out with the more tempted I am to return it.
Another game that was not worth what it was, according to my little brother. Apparently it was too short.
I heard it's dead island but good. And at least Techland didn't do anything on the level of mtn dew epic double xp codes.
They spent 500 million on this shit game, of course they're struggling
They didn't spend 500m on this game. They planned it to become a franchise and that the total amount to create all the games in the franchise would be 500m.
Tying DLC to food/drink purchases is kind of ridiculous. What next, a puzzle game tying new puzzles to codes in specially marked bottles of Tylenol(for help with the headaches of trying to finish levels)? Or a button mashing fighting game making it that you need to buy Ben Gay(to help ease the pain of button mashing) for exclusive content?
I have fun playing Destiny what's wrong with me
Have any of you actually played Destiny?
I just sold my copy of this dumb game for $25 and I'm honestly appalled I couldn't get rid of it sooner.
it's a shame Destiny doesn't have more content. the core game is great (graphics, sound, shooting) but grinding the same things over and over again, along with weird currency limitations, made me hate it
This isn't even the worst part, check this out.

They should only put it in some cans so players have to grind IRL for a drop
They should only put it in some cans so players have to grind IRL for a drop
And then remove them from stores that are close to residential areas and very populated cities because people are getting content too fast and it's unbalancing the economy.

Yeah, and I regret every second of it.
I remember buying this game based solely off bungie's good reputation. It was pretty fun for a while till the over priced DLC started rolling out and the damp feeling of being ripped off sunk in.
Still hanging on to my copy just in case bungie turns this shit show around...
Have any of you actually played Destiny?
I'm gonna be honest with you: no. I haven't. I've looked at the game and the play style is not my thing. However, I'll tell you what I've done: watched my family and friends play the game. The general census is the same: not enough content, too much health. I've watched them play, and looked at commentary online. I research games.
Regardless of whether or not I've played it, the practices behind it are bullshit.
Have any of you actually played Destiny?
My roomie has played it. I watched. It looked boring.
To be honest, I think Bungie in it's current form ran into the same problem Infinity Ward has. Most of the original Bungie devs from the Halo days have either been fired or have left, so now it's just a bunch of the people who joined in later and worked with those people to make later the later Halos. None of the original stuff that made the games they made good, with some really retarded corporate management bullshit.
Why does such a terrible game have such a great soundtrack?
Why does such a terrible game have such a great soundtrack?
Because Marty O'Donnell composed the majority of it before being fired for some probably bullshit reason.
Have any of you actually played Destiny?
Sure have. Pre-ordered the game, picked it up Day-1 with the expansion pass so we're talking ~$90. I put...about 60-70 hours into it before I realized that I simply wasn't having fun at any point anymore. It was great for the first 10-15 hours, then I realized there was no real story, it was a total grindfest in every sense of the word, the social aspects were effectively nonexistent, and crucible got old really fast.
Learned my lesson and won't be doing that again. Seeing how the game is getting chopped up like this and seeing that statement from a few days ago from Luke Smith...I'm quite comfortable not giving Bungie my money anymore.
To be honest if it had a story and grinding wasn't the main focus... yeah it would a lot better.
It's really fun if 2 of your buddies have it too...just got addicted to it again with my Co workers.

I played around 40-50 hours of Destiny and finished the base story and all the strikes. I stopped playing when I was at level 24 because the only way to level is by getting random drops and I have literally the worst luck with random drops. I'm talking not one armour drop in 3 days bad luck.
Destiny is a bad game and its systems are designed to prey on those who enjoy gambling by forcing them to grind for incredibly rare weapons required to play the endgame content.

I had amazing luck at it and it was still boring. The difference between level 24 and 30 is pretty much just you getting even larger bullet sponges to spend hours putting bullets into anyway.
Destiny could be fixable in the sequel if they focused on the story and fun rather than mimicking MMOs. Sadly this is likely not happening.
It'd be fixable if they actually gave us more story than "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" and "for more information go to the website". I mean COME THE FUCK ON, have a codex like Mass Effect, or even engrave pieces of story content into the items like in the Souls games. Hell, working towards completing specific loot sets could unlock pieces of a short story with each part of the set, giving that extra bit of encouragement to work towards getting all the items in the set. Not only would you end up with a nice-looking set of gear but you'd also have the story behind the creation of that gear and bits of the history of the Destiny universe.
Anything would be better than the current system.
Plus I mean, there are only 3 classes. Worst MMO ever.
Or if they didn't make a fucking console exclusive multiplayer MMO fps or whatever it wants to be.
Release it on the PC and maybe that will breathe some new life into it
Still an incredibly mediocre game, and nothing the PC would bring would change that.
Because Marty O'Donnell composed the majority of it before being fired for some probably bullshit reason.
He was fired for demanding his bonuses from the previous title he worked on.
I'm sighing pretty hard here.
The more stuff that comes out for that game of theres, the more convinced i am that i dodged a bullet.
God damn it Bungie.
Plus I mean, there are only 3 classes. Worst MMO ever.
It's not an MMO.
Have any of you actually played Destiny?
I had like 20+ hours in it so yes.
It's not an MMO.
Yeah I know. They made that very apparent when it was released with no way to communicate with other people other than emotes and no trading system. It's this weird bastardization between MMO grindfest and story driven FPS game with all the good parts of both taken out (sans the gun-play aspect of Destiny, which was okay) What we're left with is repetitive grindfest FPS. Oh boy, what a title worth of over $100.
And no, reading the out of game website archive of lore bits is not an acceptable substitute for having a story.
