saying "it's only offensive if you choose to be offended" with something like the fucking holocaust and jews dying by the millions is like saying "uhhh guns are only lethal if you choose to let it's bullets hit you"
Thats probably one of the dumbest analogies I've read on here in a while.
Secondly the Jewish do not have a monopoly on tragedy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocides_in_history
Pay particular attention to the 20th century category
Why is it only Jews get special consideration with regards to historical tragedies? Exactly what is the metric by which something is heinously offensive and what is history and can be discussed and referenced without needing to walk on eggshells?
Frankly its 2015, if you think the street name in some tiny ass village is heinously offensive, thats on you. I don't demand stuff that offends me is removed from television, and I'd have more of a case for that than I would for a street that has ZERO impact on my life.
They chose to be offended by a street name that had literally zero connection to the second world war or the holocaust, purely because of a knee jerk reaction the name Hitler. Should we forcibly change the family name Hitler? Cause there's surely someone else in the world who shares the name, and as we've now discovered names can hurt feelings even if they're not even relevant to that person and we're all up for changing names now so why not?
Here's the thing though, the guy they named the walk after is NOT named Hitler. People back then gave him the nickname Hitler cause of how he acted. Then when they named that walk after him those people started referring to it as Hitlers Walk.
So these people, even all these DECADES later still want to use the name Hitler when that name has no official or legitimate connection to this entire thing.
