That will kill their sales. and PC gaming forever. I bet they'll call it Water Vapor or something like that.
Some torrenter will find a way to disable it in like 2 seconds.
This thread is a perfect example of how you can never please everybody.
FIFA 10 Madden NFL 10 NHL 10 Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 NCAA Football 10 NBA Live 10
A sport game is different, especially the NHL series. The changes they've made each year are extremely noticeable and are worth the new purchase.
Some torrenter will find a way to disable it in like 2 seconds.
This is what always happens.
You have to realize the Ubisoft is the company that is producing an "innovative new DRM scheme" that forces all customers to be online for the game to even start up
What do you think Steam does? Can't count the number of times I've been unable to play my games, offline mode or not, because my connection was down.
You have to realize the Ubisoft is the company that is producing an "innovative new DRM scheme" that forces all customers to be online for the game to even start up
Its just like Steam! Offline Mode never works for me.
I'm still waiting for Pokemon Stadium 3.
You can't really count Half Life 2 or Crysis as an EA game. They just publish them.
EA doesn't develop any of those. Dice, despite being a subsidiary of EA, operates outside of the US, in sweden. despite being owned by EA, they are basically independent. EA only makes dime a dozen sports games and Need for Speed (NFS is ok IMO)
I'm getting pretty sick of all these "sweet-talking" in the press. "providing you can create something innovative every year that can surprise the end user and please your gamers" - Seriously? It's the same BS with every press release they make, and it's always bullshit. That's my take on it though...
EA steps down from the shittiest publisher and instantly there are 2 studio's fighting for the place.
I just want the next goddamn Assassin's Creed.
Like someone said, setting a time frame is stupid, just work on the game until you think it's perfect, don't rush it out at the end because you want a 12-18 month schedule.
The problem is that these companies have to make money and please fans. They can't sit in development for years and years trying to make a perfect game. It costs too much money and nothing will be accomplished.
I don't want rushed games. I want quality games. I don't buy games that aren't good. If you want my money, make good games, not lots of them. [editline]11:47AM[/editline] I'm worried about the Mass Effect 3 being planned so near as well. I want them to spend 3+ years of it just to make it as epic as possible. It's not like that franchise will fail.
Where is Beyond Good & Evil 2, Ubisoft :frown:
Wait what. They do realise that there is no way that it could be sustainable, there will be more reused content, there will be more reused plots, and they'll get reviewed worse and worse? They tried it with Splinter Cell.

Mass Effect 3 will then have an extra year's dev time on top of ME2 (and while the engine may be 'the same' all over, there may be a few small upgrades here or there to it that will be implanted in this final year. Probably nothing major, but maybe a few neat, small upgrades).
I'd rather see them releasing games when the game is ready, not when the timetable says it's due. [editline]03:22PM[/editline] Valve: Where products don't have a timetable.

Stuff doesn't get finished without deadlines.
That doesn't work, there's always something that can be improved, or done differently, or something that can get added. Stuff doesn't get finished without deadlines.
This is why I like id:
As a game developer, Carmack stands apart from many of his contemporaries by avoiding commitment to a final release date for any game he is developing. Instead, when asked for a release date on a new title, Carmack will usually reply that the game will be released "when it's done."[8] Employees at Apogee, in their past years the publishers of games by id Software, adopted this business practice as well.[9] Other game developers, such as Blizzard Entertainment, have made similar statements.[10]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_D._Carmack#Professional_philosophy

Publisher is the authority that goes "right boys, let's ship it out". I really, really hope they can make ME3 epic, because I feel really let down if all they've done is try to pump some money out of it.
