Can't stand either, don't feel anything listening to them, don't feel they fit Bond, and they have absolutely zero impact for me. Dull the whole way throughout, at bits of Sam Smith's song I can just nod off and fail to process it. Skyfall, You Know My Name, Golden Eye all project strength in the singer's voice really well at different points but aren't balls to the wall constant noise either (not that Sam Smith's is), they strike a balance. If you want a good bond theme that never tries to have that sort of noise impact but is still fitting You Only Live Twice is one exception that's interesting to listen to throughout. At least that sounds pretty classy.
It's too bad it didn't work out, but I'm extremely happy to hear a new Radiohead track anyway. Been way too long.
Don't like it at all I'm afraid and as a bond song it just don't work. I was not a fan of Sam Smiths either but the more i heard it the more it felt 'right' and when i saw it in the cinema it certainly fit. Can't explain it really, his voice is not my cup of tea at all but it just suited the film and there is moments with the orchestra which sound great (hairs on the neck stand up kind of deal). Casino Royal was the dogs bollocks though.
The song doesn't quite fit the feel of Bond, but it's a nice tune overall.
Actual best Bond theme: [editline]26th December 2015[/editline]
Someone edited the Radiohead song into the Spectre title sequence. PLEASE consider Black Out Band for the next Bond film
TBH I think they're both absolutely terrible bond songs. They seem like they'd both be fine enough songs if you're into that but when I first heard writing on the wall I initially was extremely confused and looking around the theatre basically everyone was just as baffled as I was
you know what, i prefer writing's on the wall to this. I'm actually shocked, i can see why it was rejected now. Don't get me wrong its masterfully produced but lacking in vocals to a major degree. The music is wonderful as well and has a great orchestra thatd fit with bond but i can understand the rejection.
At least Radiohead's actually has the name of the movie in the lyrics.
I really love it, but it doesn't sound like a Bond song at all to me, it sounds more like something targeted to the angsty pre-teen to teen demographic. It was never officially a bond song, but I think Gin Wigmore's "Man Like That" would do great as a Bond song in a Bond film that had the same tone as Casino Royale, and I hold the belief that it's on the same level as "Skyfall" and "You know My Name". I feel like a lot of people are missing that they probably asked for a slower moodier song for this film since that's what both Sam Smith and Radiohead gave them. It fits the theme of the film with the impending threat from Spectre and the idea that Bond is properly fucked this time. Something like You Know My Name would have been completely out of place in this film.
I like Radiohead's song the most. Can't even remember what the song was that ended up in the movie, it was so unmemorable I forgot it instantly.
having never seen the movie and just watched that intro scene with the new music all I can think is wtf is up with all that octopus shit that is the stupidest intro ever
I thought Radiohead's song was much better. Sam Smith was really meh. But as much as I love Radiohead, I think Chris Cornell nailed how a James Bond theme should be with You Know My Name.
just because a song makes a nod to the films title doesnt make it good
Yeah but it is a good song so
Radiohead version is better easily.
