We would never have gained freedom if we didn't fight and take lives.
Just like Canada, right?
Meh, I don't mind. It's the M1911's 100th anniversary. Cut us gun-nuts some slack.
Actually 1911 was developed and mildly produced somewhere near 1908-1910. It was in 1911 it entered mass production for the army.
1911s are cool looking That is all I can contribute here
I like how guns shoot things. This is the level of gun discussion we need more often
yeah but what ultimately kills you, the act of me shooting you or the small projectile going the speed of sound entering your body pretty sure the firearm is the deadly weapon and not my horrible marksmanship
Again, why are Swords and Halberds okay but modern weapons like Firearms are verboten? [editline]22nd March 2011[/editline]
I like how everyone creams their pants over the M1911 but the truth is it's an old and outdated design. With it's relatively low capacity and absurdly high powered round it's not much good in modern combat. Of course, that's not to say it doesn't have it's place. I would love to own a genuine M1911 from back in the day but most modern handguns easily outclass it.
How is high-power bad And why would you need more than 8 rounds to kill anything short of a elephant with it?
Again, why are Swords and Halberds okay but modern weapons like Firearms are verboten?
It's a lot easier to kill someone (or a large group of people) with a ranged weapon than with a short-range weapon.
Bows Are they allowed to be symbolic or no I'm siding with the conservatives in here I feel itchy
I missed most of whatever discussion was going on, I think. I thought it was a discussion about gun control or something.
Bows Are they allowed to be symbolic or no I'm siding with the conservatives in here I feel itchy
Welcome to my world. Proper liberals support gun rights, but it still kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you look around and see who the majority of the people supporting this side are.
just go with it we need guns incase the chinese invade

The weapon itself and the round it fires have stood the test of time, arguably better than any other service weapon to date. As for modern handguns outclassing it, I'd have to disagree. 1911s and their derivatives are still used in combat situations today, as well as in competition. It can still hold a candle to any modern sidearm, and I'd be willing to bet it will continue to do so for years to come.
Again, why are Swords and Halberds okay but modern weapons like Firearms are verboten?
i never said anything should be verboten nice little subtle nazi reference btw
Again, why are Swords and Halberds okay but modern weapons like Firearms are verboten?
The irony is firearms have been around since the mid 13th century. But that's where a lot of the gun hate comes from too, just consider the reputation crossbows have and you'll see what I mean.
just go with it we need guns incase the chinese invade
No. that's what the military is for. We need guns in case we need to overthrow our piece of shit government. The 1911 has got to be my favorite semi-automatic handgun, but I will live and die a revolver man.
