So, let me get this straight: I can STILL download both betas for battlefield hardline despite neither the E3 2014 or Public betas being functional, but P.T, a fully functional game that could've easily been separated from SH by removing the goddamn .bik file and a bit of text at the end of the game, was deemed unworthy of being on sony's download servers? Ok konami, suuuure.
Konami is dead as a video game company. The problem is they make SO MUCH money from their slot/gambling division and small apps that there is no reason for them to make video games anymore. I'm willing to bet everything happening to Konami in the past couple of years video game wise is due to them going "So... when are you going to start making as much money as our slots? Oh, you aren't well fuck your project then. I'm not spending a dime on it!". Kojima was likely the only person on their board of directors still championing video games at all, and they likely ousted him from that position after they were tired of hearing about it.
I wonder how much longer it'll be before an automatic/required update is sent out that forces users to uninstall PT. Just as a final fuck-you to Konami fans everywhere.

The best part is, people are selling PSN accounts starting at $40+ with the game on it and making no mention of the fact it can no longer be downloaded. Fucking genius. I imagine some Paypal disputes will be occurring over eBay.
I don't get people saying this is fine because it was a teaser Didn't Playstation magazines give out discs with teasers for games and demos all the time? I doubt those discs suddenly don't work anymore.
the continuing adventures of how to stab yourself in the foot and drag it up your leg: konami edition this sucks because I know a handful of people who were saving up for ps4s and the teaser was a huge selling point because of how it plays around with the horror genre in such a cool way
I have PT on my PS4, couldn't I just rip the files off the hdd and copy them onto another ps4 hdd?
I have PT on my PS4, couldn't I just rip the files off the hdd and copy them onto another ps4 hdd?
Not as simple as that. Put a HDD in another PS4, and you'll have to format it for it to work.
It isn't available to download because it is a demo for a canned game. It makes sense that they don't want to continue making it available on their servers - they'll be bleeding money for something that has absolutely no monetary benefit in the end.

It was probably nowhere near its peak demand when it was taken down as well. Keeping it up also arguably contributes to their IP's value, even though the game it was made for was cancelled. Also I'm not 100% sure how everything there works, but wouldn't it be on Sony's servers? In fact, since it was PS4 exclusive, Sony might have not been charging for hosting it at all. And Sony would definitely want to keep it around as another reason to get a PS4.
I think I speak for most of us when I say that I fucking hate the pachinko industry. Konami's ips are going the way of SNK's and it breaks my heart.
If they go fulltime gambling, chances are they will sell the IPs
Didn't Konami said they would make more Metal Gear games?
tactical pachinko action
Don't worry guys I bet we're getting some sick Silent Hill Pachinko machines to make up for this!
If they go fulltime gambling, chances are they will sell the IPs
No they wont, they'll just use the ips to push their goddamn machines. Get ready to see nothing from most of Konami's ips for the next five or so years only for an amazing cg trailer to pop up out of nowhere to announce the amazing, beautiful, artfully crafted. . . motherfucking Silent Hill Pachinko

They have immense advertising like you'd see with CoD but for games that skirt around gambling laws in the country and what's funny is that they advertise them exactly as you joked about. Maybe that's just my views on gambling, I mean I'm not against it per say, but you see some of these games and they're clearly marketed towards a young audience.

To make an anology with demo discs, this is like the disc not being sold anymore. You can still pop it in your console and play it, but you can't buy it new.
