This is my Christmas present for you. http://life.nationalpost.com/2011/11/30/religious-people-do-not-believe-in-atheists-study/
That study doesn't elaborate on how religious the subjects were, most theists are laid back and aren't very stern about atheism or their faith. Those who don't trust or hate atheists because of their beliefs are complete dumbasses. Atheists who want to constantly bash religious people for their beliefs are dumbasses too. They're dividing people based on their personal, private beliefs, which is one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen in my life.
They are nut-jobs. In an atheist perspective of view, tied with many different anthropological views i have come up with. Anyone who believe the son of the supposed creator of the world was born from a virgin mother in a barn is in every way a nut-job. You'd have to be brain washed or have no concept of human biology and geometric formations to even consider these ideas. Yet most human on this planet are simplistic specimence who see no need to change there lives from "everlasting" (aka. heaven and jesus) to "realistic" (ending and nothing). Im a realist who uses science and observation to clearly define my world. I spare no emotions for animals that live in a conceived dream world. It's what i do for a living. So yes, they are nut-jobs. Do i say this to their faces? NO. I have manners... online on a gaming forum which non of them go. YES, because i like to rage. SO live with it.
You're only enforcing the stereotype. You're treating them as second-class people based on their personal choices and opinions on unproven theories, opinions that do not affect you if they don't shove them down your throat. You need to grow up.
Of course, Jesus said to give away as much as you can to charity; but since it's done secularly, it's anti-Christian on Christmas :v:

Changing the way they lived and the things they cared about in a good way. More consideration toward life. EVER THINK ABOUT THAT. No, you just care about leaving people to believe what they want. We need to make sure kids in this country and around the world have an education firm in science and without religion. Religion causes false hope. If we are to survive as a species and begin to colonize outer space we need a species clear of distractions and beliefs of this religious sort. Im aloud to be this stereotype because it's what this world needs, it just doesn't realize it yet. :)

So what if it causes false hope? Does that harm you at all? You'll seem like a huge dick by telling people that their loved ones aren't waiting for them in heaven, thus crushing them and smashing one of the most important coping skills they may have used during the grieving process. If they can accept whatever you want to throw at them, you don't gain anything personally anyway.

Do I think religious mythology is hysterical, barbaric, beautiful, poetic, bonkers etc - sometimes? Yes, can I laugh at people who believe in such nonsense? Yes, is it right to do so? Depends on your philosophy. But would I treat them as inferior for believing in something? Nah.
yeah consumerism sucks we should replace it with religious dogma instead much better...
let's combine them bibles on audio cassette only $14.99 act now
let's combine them bibles on audio cassette only $14.99 act now
I'm currently playing George Carlin on my cassette player. It probably wouldn't play the bible after that.
Merry Giftsmas. Have a really full pocket with loads of wads, lots of gifts on your bedroom, and a really good dinner table for you to feast. What is important during this day is getting your family together and be happy, ffs.
Merry Giftsmas. Have a really full pocket with loads of wads, lots of gifts on your bedroom, and a really good dinner table for you to feast.
A lot of families cannot afford such a lavish lifestyle.
I say Atheists get Mars. That way we can have a day once a year for our independence from stupidity. Then i'll shut the hell up. Until then i shal rage and troll. RAGE AND TROLL EVERY 25th of DECEMBER! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No but in all seriousness im catholic. :) Just liked to give you all the present of anger.
I think he's more worried about the fact that Christmas is losing it's religious meaning than the consumerism surrounding Christmas but, since bitching about Christmas losing it's religious meaning would just make him look like an idiot, he added in consumerism to level it out. I mean, if he only bitched about Christmas losing it's religious meaning we'd all be bitching at him that Christmas is more about being with the family now but, by adding that consumerism factor, he gave us something else to bitch about. Smart move. [editline]25th December 2011[/editline]
I say Atheists get Mars. That way we can have a day once a year for our independence from stupidity.
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I actually thought you just talked about your neighbors who were insane, and actually wanted to clear that up. Then you went full retard. Well done, sir. On the subject itself, I think that this evolution of sorts, shows that the society is changing it's support points from one concept (religion) to another (consumerism). It's a part of societal, economic, and cultural development, and is therefore, to be expected.
As george carlin would say, coveting your neighbors goods is what drives the economy. The pope is one of the worst people in this world today considering what he's said about africa

Op has nothing to do with religion v non-believers. Please shut the fuck up.
Whats wrong with consumerism. It works perfectly.
I love the cavalier ability of people on internet to take phrases which are somewhat related in their nature and degrading them all into one single meaning. Communism = Socialism = Dictature Consumerism = Capitalism = Democracy :downs:
Hey guys I'm catholic that must mean I'm insane :downs:
It's just a difference in morals, values and beliefs. What, we're gonna tear each other a new one just because of that? I'm Christian and I enjoy Christmas because I have ever since the day I could remember. It has brought my family closer together and taught me a little something about love and compassion towards other people. Sure, my family is a trainwreck of an example, but for even just a couple of hours last night we were able to shut the fuck up and just laugh for once in our dreary lives. Even if you guys view it as "false hope." I believe that atheists have "false hope" because they try to justify their confusing lives with reasoning of science. Really though, there's no use arguing with it. Whether you follow Christian life guidelines or you don't, Christmas shouldn't be about consumerism. Since when has greed, gluttony and vanity been considered consumerist? Respect should be the main standpoint or baseline of it all. We are after all, only human...
its like all the hardcore christian extremists are posting in this thread christmas isnt a christian holiday, get over it
Anyone else noticing the Andy Hamilton link here?
Christmas has sort of lost it's meaning and become a more secular holiday unfortunately.
Yeah, I miss the days when I sacrificed livestock, fucked beautiful virgins and other combinations of the previous two in the name of the Divine Mothers!
haha, but the catholic church is a political organisation and a business - but hey, at least they have a good marketing team, any other large corporation being caught attempting to cover up the actions of paedophiles would get fucked
wasn't x-mas was the day that Odin(Santa) avenged peoples deaths? and the blood on his suit was always red?
reminds me of a jewish joke i heard from my mum, a christian tells a jew that christmas is the most wonderful time of the year because it's because it's the time that all your family will come and be together with you. the jew says "when does the wonderful part come in?"
A lot of families cannot afford such a lavish lifestyle.
perhaps 'lavish' is the wrong word to use
I don't mind it being commercialized at all. I don't need to be religious to celebrate it. Every holiday is better without religion. Easter, atleast for me is commercialized too since I don't go to church or do any religious activities, I just eat the eggs and stuff. If you don't like a holiday commercialized, then celebrate it the old way or something, don't force it on people who like it the way it is.
ALL holidays are commercialized. Easter? The easter bunny wasn't tradition - it was commercial. Our image of Santa Claus? From Coca Cola. All major holidays are commercialized. Plus, hell, a majority of the actual Christmas traditions are pagan. The only two I can think of that relate to Christianity are nativity scenes and the name "Christ's Mass." As for the religious shitstorm that will inevitably develop: I have no problem with the religious unless they try to evangelize to me or refuse to accept established scientific theories. Of course, I'd have just as much of a problem with a nonreligious person who doesn't believe in gravity - they're idiots either way.
Easter? The easter bunny wasn't tradition - it was commercial.
Nope. From the pagan celebration of Oestara (Spring solstice) whose god was symbolised by the hare.
Our image of Santa Claus? From Coca Cola.
Nope. From the middle-European Sinterklass.
