I still can't make an opinion on the AWB because I still don't know what that law considers and "assault weapon"
He's got a point about the illegal handguns, still wrong on the "spooky assault weapons" though.
"he shares part of my opinion but not all of it"
obama's executive orders included provisions about mental health and fixing the ATF's firearm control loopholes, did it not
I and the vast majority of gun owners agree with his Executive Orders. Those who don't, only did so because they will disagree with Obama on anything.
Unless the NRA is NOT the "vast majority of gun owners" I don't think that's the case, but whatever
Unless the NRA is NOT the "vast majority of gun owners" I don't think that's the case, but whatever
60 million gun owners in the US. NRA membership ~4.25 million
Well I'm sure there are a very large number of people that aren't technically in the NRA that agree with the NRA's view
Well I'm sure there are a very large number of people that aren't technically in the NRA that agree with the NRA's view
He's right. Most people agree with the president's actions. http://www.gallup.com/poll/160085/americans-back-obama-proposals-address-gun-violence.aspx
When your constitution was written swords were still in wide use. It's only 200 years out of date. Even the English language has changed significantly since your constitution was written.
What about the oldballs British constitution?
I've never understood the reason for banning certain types of guns while not others. I mean I can understand having hunting rifles legal while explosive weapons illegal, but other than that?
What about the oldballs British constitution?
The last time the British constitution changed was probably within the last few weeks.
The last time the British constitution changed was probably within the last few weeks.
There are methods in place to modify the US Constitution as well.
You can conceal handguns. It's pretty hard to shove an mp5 up your ass to hide it.
Why do cops NEED them?
Because it's a "What if" tool that they have in their trunks, just in case of a person with body armor or has them outgunned themselves. The hollywood shooters were only stopped once cops obtained AR-15's from local gun stores. Cops and SWAT are different things though. SWAT is paramilitary and they don't do normal cop duties. [editline]29th January 2013[/editline]
There are methods in place to modify the US Constitution as well.
You can modify the constitution. You cannot however, modify the first ten amendments.
Why do cops NEED them?
Because the criminals have access to bigger guns than a .40 handgun. Criminals get bigger guns, cops get bigger guns.
And you're right. Supreme Court decisions, like any judicial precedent, cannot be overturned willy-nilly. You have to prove that the previous decision was in some way wrong. I don't see how that changes things though.
Because the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment is an individual right that applies to all citizens?
