Yes. The United States is one of the toughest countries to gain citizenship to.
But we're a nation built on our ancestors immigrating here...
I'm anti-illegal immigration and I oppose this.
I live in Arizona.
Do.Not.Approve.
So basically this state-sponsored racial profiling requires police officers in Arizona to check the immigration status of a person if they are hispanic.
Fuck, I can't wait until someone hispanic and legal gets profiled so they can get the ACLU up on their ass about this shitty law.
Isn't racial profiling illegal?
Isn't racial profiling illegal?
Not in US of A. Hate speech and racial profiling are illegal up here in canada though.
Isn't racial profiling illegal?
Not in Arizona anymore. I can't believe the Tea Party is this successful so far. I am really dreading what 2012 might bring...
I wish we could just get all the illegal immigrants out of the country, is it really that hard to get here legally?
Hurr. If you don't speak english OF COURSE.

It's not really that easy.
This Arizona initiative is not the right way to approach this situation.
Pretty useful chart there, and i don't agree with arizona's approach to this.
Though it's a long process, it's still no excuse to willfully break the law, and cause any of your employers to unwittingly do so in the future.
Good.
I fucking hate illegal aliens. They steal jobs from people who need and deserve them. I know their trying to find a better life, but just.... We don't want you here..
If we get rid of them who is going to mow our lawns and make delicious burritos?
I live in Arizona... What the fuck is next, internment camps? I don't give a shit about the punk-asses around my neighborhood but this is going too far.

Alright, then the illegal aliens will rot in their shitty countries, needing jobs, willing to work hard cheap, and having a family in need of that money while some random teenager slacks off at a job and does shit work.
I wish we could just get all the illegal immigrants out of the country, is it really that hard to get here legally?
I can guarantee you would fail the citizenship exam to get into the U.S.
I'm in AZ, this is bullshit.
What's sad is that I was trying to camp out after a concert because it was too late to go to my friends house to crash (didn't want to wake him up) and I couldn't find the camp site, so I just rolled out my bag right on the side of the car and a few hours later a cop came to check it out. I wasn't doing anything wrong technically, but as soon as he saw I was white and had a valid Arizona ID, he suddenly acted like he was my best friend, but before that he was acting like I was some crazy mexican with rabies that was going to rip his throat out.
Sheriff Joe is a nazi.
As stated, America is one of the most difficult countries to gain citizenship to. Not only that, but there are huge waiting list, where people wait for days to get into America, not "Leave your name and go home", either, they wait in line on a first come, first serve, basis. The desperation to get out of their sinking shit hole and onto equal ground is enough to make anyone do something crazy.

I agree that illegal aliens, shouldn't be here (see the fact that it has been deemed illegal), but questioning every Hispanic person for proof of citizenship just seems a tad too racist to me. I would say that there are quite a few illegals here (in Arizona), but I don't see how this fixes anything. The quote even said they won't prosecute everyone who is illegal, it is just another tool. Seems like a way to fuck over/ annoy Hispanic people.

Wrong, wrong wrong. That biased poster is made to misinform people. H-1B / H-2A work visa applications are responded to in an estimated six months. The reason for this is because thousands of people apply for said visas. Once your work visa has been accepted, you can immediately move state-side. In one year, you can apply for a green card (permanent residency). Five years later, you are eligible for the naturalization process.
Immigration is important, but there's no justification to do it illegally.
I live 90-120 miles from the Mexican Border (Woot Tucson) ,and I don't even approve of this.
Then again I find it that some points are sorta out their... My great great grandparents came to America from Poland ,and Germany... Did they speak their native languages? Fuck no. They spent day ,and night trying to learn English so they could be seen as a real American. Then when WW2 broke out twenty years later two sons joined the military. One became a POW ,and the other fought to the Battle of the Bulge.
My issue at hand is that their isn't really that much ways for people to get into America without jumping the border. The only issue I have with illegal immigrant in general is they refuse to learn how to be an actual American.

This also could be that you provided valid proof of citizenship, not every cop is a racist bastard, although I have seen some.

Asylum, Green card lottery, adoption, family-based petitioning, both types of work visas.
Good job arizona.
Sucks for Arizona D;

I know this may be odd in theory...
Why not make military a way?

The way you are saying it is how it works on paper. It's quite different in how it works in reality. The immigration system as it stands is inherently unfavorable to unskilled (by American standards) laborers.
If it really was that easy people would not go through all the troubles of getting into this country illegally- the smuggling, border crossing, forging papers, etc, all of which come with substantial financial commitment, personal risk, and failure.
For the average guy trying to get into this country, their best bet is if they got relatives already in the country, preferably naturalized or natural born citizens. All other ways in are tough and not much can get in that route. Routes like refugee and lottery visas are only meant for a handful of people and they would rather not wait around for that.
The immigration system is broken, and honestly if people want to really get at the root of the problem they should start looking at employers who exploit illegal immigrant labor to undercut minimum wage and/or unions for more profit.
I don't like non english speaking immigrants (Language barrier), but I think they have the right to be here. (Aus)
Cooperation with illegal immigrants? What? They aren't even supposed to be here in the fucking first place. What they need to do is get an education and spend the time to come over here the legal way. If they don't want to learn english, that's their problem.
Have any idea how hard it is to get into this country legally, much less for any extended amount of time?
Even a college degree isn't enough to get you a green card.
Hey hey, that guy looks like a mexican, let's break into his house to check. Yahoo!

Correct, to get a green card you have to have lived in the country for a year. This requirement is attainable by receiving a work visa. You don't have to have an education to do seasonal work in agriculture on an H-2A visa.
but i love mexican food what will happen to my mexican food
