My local news reported on this.
"It seems the girls were inspired by a website, and they felt the need to KILL their friend to prove themselves to a killer featured on the website."
I fucking... What?
"Don't buy kids shit to play with"
Nah seriously, they DO NOT need that kind of shit, OR that kind of input at that age
Not kids under 10/12, I dunno maybe with a grey area thrown in there for learning, but shit.
I don't think so at least. Play with a fucking ball, shit.
That's never a good sign.
Well I edited it, jeez
Why do you care anyway? I'm just some asshole on a forum
cnn just aired a story on this
as expected they instantly jumped to blaming creepypasta wiki for "inspiring" the stabbing, and speculated on it "inspiring" other unreported murders
12 year olds aren't retarded little boogers. Yes, many 12 year olds make stupid mistakes while they are beginning to mature, but to go as far as trying to kill someone isn't something that can be brushed off as "they're just kids." There's a very clean line between negligent homicide and premeditated murder.
I'm sure that 65 years in prison will do them good. When they get out at the age of 77, they'll be normal responsible adults.

But how does popping them into a prison for the rest of their lives help? Shit they probably don't even know the meaning of the word homicide.
I don't support death or life sentences normally, but I can understand some arguments for those. What I can't understand is why somebody would want revenge this badly on 2 children with mental problems who do not understand the implications of their actions.
Hyper-realistic blood for the hyper-realistic blood god!
In all seriousness, though, this is all kinds of fucked up.
Slender Man of all things...
Status changed from dangerous to extremely stupid

See, this is what get's confuses me. People don't get thrown into jail for themselves. People get thrown in jail to keep them away from the people on the outside. Who gives a shit about the person who got thrown in jail, people could not care less about if they are proper people when they come out. They aren't in there to better themselves they are in there to keep everyone else safe from them. Jail isn't some rehab, it's a place to keep dangerous people away from others.

then why is it that scandinavian countries with rehabilitation styled prison systems have a far lower percentage of reoffenders after being released
Fucking ameteurs, they didn't even try to sacrifice the kid to the Dark Pharaoh, Nyarlohotep.
The aztecs would be proud of these two.
but really, put these in a mental ward for a few years and see if they are truely fucked up or if they can be teached to not kill for some enity.
yay this happened close to me
good ol' wisconsin
this happened not more than like 15 minutes away from me holy shit
.......i have no words.
That is evidently not the case.
the idea that a pair of 12 year olds could get 65 years in prison also seems really fucked up and stupid. only adults should be tried as adults imo
I'd feel a lot differently if this wasn't premeditative, and doing it for a stated reason of going to a 'higher plain'. Or if it was just a single stab, that i could easily see as a "oh shit wtf r we doing"; but 19 fucking times? No way

That only means they need more help, not that they should be tried as adults. That has literally no added benefit, to anyone.

Just because they are tried as adults does not mean they are no longer entitled to parole, or sentencing to a medical rehab clinic.

They're not adults, they should not be tried as adults.
Because they're not adults.
They need help, not life in prison.

Premetitative assault and stabbing, luring a supposed friend to stab, continuously stabbing them 19 times, and leaving them for dead.
I'm sorry but that's a bit too much for me to look at to be tried as a minor. I hope they get help, but they also need to accept the consequences of their actions.
I could see being charged as a minor if they stabbed once and realized what the fuck they did an ran, but 19 times takes some serious dedication and determinination.
it's basically a death sentence, nothing important in your life happens before 12 or after 77
i dunno i was born before i was 12
Splendormen lives!
trying 12 year olds as adults seems real fucked up to me
The argument seems to be that they planned and carried it out in such a way that they showed they aren't children. I dunno about it though, seems a bit sketchy.
Remember kids, stay in school and don't do memes.
Winners don't do memes.
They can get less than 65 years.
Their sentence also could have appeals and they could be released earlier.

This ridiculous mindset is why the American prison system is what it is. People don't stop being people just because they've done something that got them in jail. Not everyone that goes to jail is some sort of lost cause. You are the same kind of person that objects to Norwegian prisons offering many comforts to the prisoners, even though it freaking works, which shows if you just take two seconds to look at the statistics.
It's not the middle ages anymore.
If only they had used a certified memomancer and not their homebrew bullshit.
I remember marble hornets years ago, it was pretty interesting to watch. I hate it when kids ruin things.

But they are minors. That's literally the only thing that should matter.

People mature at such varying ages that it's impossible to encompass such rulings unless it's handled on a case-by-case basis. 18 is just the number that the US legal system decided would be the threshold between minor and adult.

Technically your brain doesn't fully develop until you're 25 (24-25?) so you may as well be arguing that no one should be tried as an "adult" until 25. I doubt that will happen.
