refunds still work for cheaters, all you have to do is file for a chargeback! works 100% of the time
this kills the steam account.
this kills the steam account.
don't let them know
This makes it sound like you can get a refund 14 days after release no matter what:
Yes, you could automatically refund pre-ordered games before release for quite some time now. It was in your purchase history. It refunded it to your Steam Wallet though.
THIS BETTER NOT END UP TO BE THE NEXT PAID MODS
This is great, sadly it doesn't get me out of my previous stupid purchases, put it should protect against them in the future. Which I say is I go through my list of bad early access games. (Stomping Land anyone?)
Oh what a day, WHAT A LOVELY DAY
Speaking of early access/pre launch betas, where do those fit in this?
This seems to be one of the first things in a long, long time that Valve has gotten 100% right. Two weeks after purchase/two hours of playtime cutoff, for any reason, you actually get the funds back instead of it going to Steam Wallet, and they're willing to negotiate outside of the conditions. I wonder, though. If they're having you submit a request to a customer support rep for this whole system, maybe they really are improving their support to prep for this
Shame it's only for games just bought. That's good but most games I'm not happy with in my library are way past the point of no return really. Right?
Shame it's only for games just bought. That's good but most games I'm not happy with in my library are way past the point of no return really. Right?
Steam would have a surge of basically lost revenue as people just go window shopping for what they want their money back for. It sucks but it would be incredibly demanding on their cash.
How does this work on CS:Go smurfs
Now we just need decent steam support response times
This is still Steam support though. By the time they look at your request, the two weeks have already passed.
I'm in this really awkward phase where I have tons of games that I will never play and bought anyways, including humble bundle games don't be like me. Finish the game you buy, don't lose attention to it and actually complete it, otherwise you'll end up with games you've half finished and it'll be really awkward some games I've lost the saves to and have to outright restart thank god I can prevent this now.
Steam is actually trying to compete, neat.
Wish the two hour period was a bit longer. I've run into games that have game-breaking bugs or other tripe two hours in. Or what if you bought a game pre-sale and played 2.01 hours, and then it goes 90% off the next day? Can't spit at a gift horse though. This is a really incredible gesture.

What if you bought a game 5 minutes before the sale ended, play for about an hour then get a refund? Do you get refunded the price of the game when it was on sale?

Favorites - Titles I'm actively playing, watching, or need to beat. AA - Stuff I need to beat, sorted by genre so it's easier to avoid knuckling down on 10 RTSes in a row. AB - Awful garbage I don't want to beat, but need to at some point. Mostly from bundles and events. EA - Stuff that's being constantly updated or watched. Multi - Can't be beat, low interest to play. Time Killer - Can't be beat, great to kill time between classes. Short one-off games like Audiosurf. XX - Games I've finished and am unlikely to look back on. Games - Shit that was just bought/installed and hasn't been sorted yet. There's a tool I forget the name of that can let you do this sorting in seconds, instead of Steam's awful interface. Because I have about 200~ ish titles in the Finished catagory.
Steam would have a surge of basically lost revenue as people just go window shopping for what they want their money back for. Two hours? Sucks for people trying to sell short narrative games like Gone Home.
Hope i can get rid of this piece of shit port.
The leniency behind this is really surprising. I'd never expect this from Valve at all.
Two hours? Sucks for people trying to sell shirt narrative games like Gone Home.
To be fair a narrative about a shirt sounds interesting.
Steam would have a surge of basically lost revenue as people just go window shopping for what they want their money back for. It sucks but it would be incredibly demanding on their cash.
I'm already having trouble connecting to the steam servers they had to shut down because of their financial loss.
We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.
That's pretty awesome of them.
while this is nice and all, and i appreciate the gesture of them removing some sort of "risk" if any, i don't really see the point outside of maybe refunding a completely awful game (eg, mcpixel) making a purchase has to be an informed decision, especially with the cost of games, and the only bonus i see out of this is the aforementioned i've never had a desire to refund any purchases from steam i have had a desire to sell my license rights and purchase something else, but in the age of digital subscriptions, that's never gonna happen
Two hours? Sucks for people trying to sell short narrative games like Gone Home.
A neat idea for steam would be to implement a hidden achievement (or marker) to tell Steam when someone finished the game, and perhaps that could enter the decision if they were to offer the refund.
