Really surprised to see Valve adding this honestly. I wonder what took them so long.
As you can see by the announcement itself, there's a variety of cases that need to be taken into account and a large financial and legal back-end that had to be put into place. Valve likes to automate as much as they can but developing those systems takes time. Glad to see it's finally here, now hope it actually works well enough. There will probably be cases where people will try to abuse it, but as long as it doesn't go overboard it should be manageable and still be a big net positive for Steam.
blatter resigns new fallout refunds that should have been done a while ago but it's finally there it's raining so the water rations are close to ending what a lovely day
US is part of the EU now? They could've excluded the US. And yes, Steam needed this since day one.
They were doing business in the EU. You have to comply to local laws.
Also, I want it to get rid playclaw, but it says I have 73 hours in it, I probably have like 20mins of recording time with it, and it doesn't fucking work probably, I've tried to fix it millions of times, and nope, nothing to fix it.
It's not a "nice gesture" it's finally complying with fucking EU law.
They didn't have to do this, they were already fully compliant with EU law. There's an exception in the online shopping refund law when it comes to digital goods. The seller can ask the buyer to waive the 14 day refund right before purchase if the digital product is delivered immediately after purchase, which is what Steam does. Even after this change there's this clause above the purchase button:
By clicking the button below to proceed you agree that Valve provides you immediate access to digital content as soon as you complete your purchase, without waiting the 14-day withdrawal period. Therefore, you expressly waive your right to withdraw from this purchase.
What if you get a card drop in your first two hours? Genuinely curious, especially if you sell it on the market.
I wish this was around when I bought Rome II and all of it's DLC full price and the next day it was 75% off.
I wish this was around when Rome II was out at all. That'll teach me to preorder
This is brilliant cause if you don't like the game and if their is no demo you have a chance at a refund
cool
Hah you can refund Savage Lands? Fucking brilliant the entire 5 minutes I was wandering around yelling how shit it was.
Nice! and it only took 11 years.
refunds were Already possible though. you just needed to make a support ticket.
refunds were Already possible though. you just needed to make a support ticket.
So they weren't possible.
refunds were Already possible though. you just needed to make a support ticket.
They might respond to you in multiple days, and it's unlikely you'd get it. It was possible, but barely.
So do they take the money back from the developers or something, or is this entirely out of pocket? I'm not entirely sure how that works.
Now can two people using family share use the same game at the same time? Kinda kills it if you wanna play local multiplayer on a game and you only have it on one account
refunds were Already possible though. you just needed to make a support ticket.
I did this once and they specifically said that it was a one-time-only gesture of goodwill, before bending me over and taking my pants off
So do they take the money back from the developers or something, or is this entirely out of pocket? I'm not entirely sure how that works.
could take around that time until they give the devs the money that month or so, I'm not sure how it works either
refunds were Already possible though. you just needed to make a support ticket.
If the game was completely broken on release like Colonial Marines they made an exception but apart from that they gave you one refund and then any time you asked after that they'd say no.
Well I've put in a ticket for The Stomping Land, so lets see where this goes...
Wow, Valve is really one of the very few companies that still care about customer satisfaction more than profit.
Wow, Valve is really one of the very few companies that still care about customer satisfaction more than profit.
I promise you, they don't. Neither does any company ever.
Wow, Valve is really one of the very few companies that still care about customer satisfaction more than profit.
What was it, a little over a month ago now that they decided to try and sell fucking mods? Yeah, no. They don't come even fucking close to caring about customer satisfaction over profit.
Great! I can refund Rust now!
What was it, a little over a month ago now that they decided to try and sell fucking mods? Yeah, no. They don't come even fucking close to caring about customer satisfaction over profit.
to be fair I don't think they really knew what they were doing with that one
to be fair I don't think they really knew what they were doing with that one
Exactly. They rushed out a badly thought method to grab a quick buck off of people with too much money and too little sense. It was a pure money making scheme that they hopped on in hopes that the defense squad would rush to their aid, and it backfired.
It shouldn't be just 2 hours. This fucks over people with shorter and cheaper games, but lets people with more expensive, but stretched out games free. a 5 dollars 3 hour game shouldn't have the same time limit as a 60 dollar 8 hour game.
i felt a great disturbance in the indie game scene as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly refunded
What was it, a little over a month ago now that they decided to try and sell fucking mods? Yeah, no. They don't come even fucking close to caring about customer satisfaction over profit.
I am still sad that it din't happen, and there are plenty of other people who feel the same way. Maybe you should try stop objecting your opinion as if its the absolute truth.
I am still sad that it din't happen, and there are plenty of other people who feel the same way. Maybe you should try stop objecting your opinion as if its the absolute truth.
Modders were being cheated out of money for the profit of Valve and Beth. My opinion may not be, but that is objective fact.
