Bahahahaha!
We can't even get AKO or ATRRS to work right half the time, much less have good web design.
For some reason I don't really think you're in the army, rather a janitor on base or something.
I wonder what the "special forces" guys look like... Would never want a group of those after you.
I assure you, I am very much in the Army. Also SF guys look like normal Soldiers when home in garrison, wearing the combat uniform albeit with a green beret. Now, when on an exercise or overseas, they look all crazy. Beards, super nonstandard patchwork of equipment, no identifying marks on their kit, stuff like that.
Some relatives are stationed there. Even stranger is that I haven't gotten any word of this and I talked with one of them not three hours ago.
I'm hearing a lot of people saying Fort Hood sucks also.
Not in the service (yet), but i've been to the base several times before and i've been to a lot of the facilities there. Though I never really did stop to ask for others' opinions.
Any specifics on why it sucks?
The command there is real shit and because of how they run things moral there is really low. At least that's how it was in my unit.

its clear that 100% of people need to carry at least a dozen loaded weapons on them at all times... to prevent people from using guns or something...
guys come on if everyone had guns we'd have less crime, don't you see?
no way would anybody shoot me, id shoot them first, blam blam pew pew
My best friend is over there right now.

Blissfully mistaken :V
you'd think the us military would have a higher standard of web art tbh
Haven't played Company of Heroes? They were not exaggerating on the Army lines:
"Join the Army they said."
"If I see one more bag of fuckin' dirt."
Apparently the 2nd shooter is dead, shot himself.
For some reason I don't really think you're in the army, rather a janitor on base or something.
so you mean infantry???
golly gee i wonder why you dont think hes in the army
Good job Bill Clinton on making it illegal for soldiers to carry weapons on their own base, fucking idiot.

this just in, a press conference by sloppy_joes reveals that the best way to combat the violation of laws is to pass more laws
"i really think this is the right thread to start a political debate," said joes on wednesday afternoon. "These things always turn out really nice."

my world view is also based off of entirely what i see in video games. the army must have a terrible website because some guy in a video game said something about bags of dirt.

im just bringing the inevitable
New report states that there was only one shooter, and he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Christ,so it's multiple shooters as well? That's crazy.
Reports of multiple shooters are almost always wrong. See Aurora, Sandy Hook, etc.
Oh fuck, My best friend is there right now in the army.
Hope to god He's alright. I can't get in contact with him at all.

Keep trying until you do, if he's there he's probably just stuck in a building or something waiting for the all clear.
Body count is up to 4 dead and 14 wounded.

I've always assumed he was Linelor 2, but I make the same assumption with everyone that says anything about anything on the internet so it's not a huge deal really.
Hopefully those wounded recover quickly.
I hate to be the one to bring it up, but can anyone really be surprised that this happens at a place designed to depersonalize and train people specifically to become inured to the idea of killing people through emotionally harmful means? This in a country with an exceptionally crap mental health system.

i dont know what movies you've been watching but military training, ESPECIALLY army, isnt so emotionally traumatizing like it is in Full Metal Jacket so i have no clue what you're even talking about
lol what do you fucking think they do, sacrifice orphans in front of recruits? they teach them how to function and fire a gun accurately and move quickly and shit, what do you honestly think army training does that would single-handedly inspire someone to shoot up a base
With the express purpose of not questioning orders and utilizing that training to kill people. I'm not insinuating their training is any worse than any other military, but it is by nature depersonalizing and taxing on an individual that might already be on edge for such things.
On the one hand it's horrible that this is happening again, but hopefully they're better prepared for dealing with the situation and will be able to contain it quickly
I assure you, I am very much in the Army.
dude no way

The big Army is extremely different from what you see on Full Metal Jacket man. I would really think that this is due to extreme workplace stress due to how bullshit Fort Hood treats its Soldiers. Trust me, I have met a lot of people that have been there and still have current friends stationed there. They all hated it, and still hate it. Also, the Army has a pretty good mental health framework. Hell, I am even taking advantage of it myself and getting some help sorting out some issues I have been having. Thing is, you have to take that big first step in getting help, and that is very hard for a lot of people due to some stigmas that still exist regarding asking for help.
My brother is stationed there.
Im currently extremely scared but the odds of something happening to him are huge...

I think you should lay off the drugs, they seem to be having the wrong effect.
Also it isn't difficult getting things on base, you literally are carded and waved through if you are active, retiree or dependent here. About the worst you get is when it is 100% id check day, and that isn't too much to ask, everyone takes out their wallets and gets carded.
Contractors have a bit more hassle, but even then it isn't much from what I understand.
Not the most unbiased source of news but meh http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/04/robert-farago/breaking-fort-hood-shooter-was-iraq-vet-undergoing-psychiatric-treatment-used-45/
Shooter was an Iraq War Vet who was undergoing mental health care on base. Used a gun that was unregistered on base (didn't belong to the military and was not registered to him in terms of guns he could have with him on base, which is a requirement if the base even permits the people on it to bring their personal firearms)
Something more credible http://news.yahoo.com/fort-hood-shooting-222528983.html
That and Fort Hood is a pretty potent target for people who lose their goddamn mind. It's a big training base, isn't it?
Ft. Hood is huge and it happens to be in an area that is pretty shitty to begin with.

Now what's going on here? You guys are making sound like it's almost a coup or something.
My brother is stationed there.

My kid brother's there too.
Not afraid for him, already know he's okay, except for the fact that he's often a short-sighted idiot, and I could see him pulling some stupid moves amidst the "excitement" of a crazed gunman roving through his base...
fort hood guy here
i had literally just got off the fucking plane back from Ft Irwin california (NTC rotation) today to come into this shit. not even a half hour after i had gotten back to hood airfield, people were freaking the fuck out.
im starting to wonder if the correlation of us returning and this shooting was just coincidental or planned. feels bad man, especially knowing since darnall was not too far from the shooting, then there's a possibility this was directed to some 3rd cav infantry guys i might've just seen this morning.
First Norfolk Naval Base and now Fort Hood again. You think Military bases would be really safe from this kind of shit...scary.
Both incidents happened in camp, I'm pretty sure the security is tight. Hell even the camps here are tight. But what happens inside is a whole different thing
