That was such bullshit though, Chaos 2 had the upper advantage thanks to the flipper, once Chaos 2 got in the right position, Hypnodisc was instantly defeated
The team should've known that was going to happen, I don't know why they didn't upgrade the robot with a mechanical spring when that happened so it had another chance to go it but I can't remember if further modifications of robots was agianst the rules
the first time that happened is why hypnodisc v2 had the srimech from like series 5 onwards

They weren't allowed to add defensive modifications. That's why why there was controversy over the Tornado vs Razer battle where there was a massive frame to 'support' a flywheel they added as a weapon.

The show was great but what killed it in the end was that everyone realized that pancake-shaped robots that had flippers were the most optimal design since they could self-right, were possible to make work upsidedown, could use an absurd amount of force to chuck opponents out and were so low to the ground that most weapons struggled to grab anything that wasn't a tire, which most got around by just deciding to make solid wheels.

I remember they hastily welded that frame to it just to keep Razor away in the series finale (which tornado won), it also stopped it from being flipped over and prevented it from being dumped in the pit, i mean that shit was just so OP and ruined the series.

idk why the robot rules didn't say it has to be a maximum size of so and so which would allow any robot to fall into the pit
or not really that, the steel bars prevented the fucker from being destroyed, mind you any robot that could spike it had full control over what they wanted to do next, but they couldn't put it in the pit cause it wouldn't fit there
Late comicon Wales had Wheely Big Cheese and a few other robots on display and I had a discussion with the guys.
Robot wars had been going on way after the TV series ended and he mentioned that Craig enjoyed presenting the show and that there had been 'talks' of maybe getting it back as a new series with him involved so fingers crossed he's going to back in all his glory for this.
Also when you see the robots in person you really appreciate how large the buggers are. I asked what would happen if I was standing on Wheely big cheese and they fired the flipper and they said it would break my legs on the launch and would be surprised if the landing didn't kill me.
They are really big! REALLY big.

I would ban flippers and pushers entirely. Discs require more engineering to build, more skill to operate, and they're far more spectacular to watch. It partially drove me away from watching these shows when flippers became the de-facto standard design, with pushers a close second.
I always liked the design and idea of Behemoth. Too bad it did shit basically all the time.

You can get an idea of scale by watching Mythbusters. Grant's little battlebot was, IIRC, a middleweight. It wasn't even one of the big baddies. And it was HUGE. If a middleweight is that big...
