To think I'd just be happy with a 970..
AMD has something coming. They've been teasing a HBM-based 300 series for a while now.
I was planning on waiting for the 3xx series myself to buy a new card to replace my artifacting GTX670, but caved early and got a aftermarket 290 which was on sale. No regrets here though; it's a damn good little powerhouse.
And now my triple-sli 980 is no longer a bragging right [editline]31st May 2015[/editline] im sad af rn som1 pls hold me
God dammit, and I JUST bought a 980 GTX last week. :T
if its a EVGA, you can upgrade for the difference of the price http://www.evga.com/support/stepup/
Why do you have three 980s? Games are continuely adding newer technology, and that technology can cripple even the best of cards(hair physics currently).
Shit, I just bought mine.
Why do you have three 980s? I can't imagine any game being that intense for the next 5 years.
probably 4k gaming
probably 4k gaming
BINARY did it to bug us in the hardware section. No other reason.
BINARY did it to bug us in the hardware section. No other reason.
With all seriousness, he's right though. My primary monitor is 4k.
BINARY did it to bug us in the hardware section. No other reason.
he should have gotten 3x titanx with ddr4 ram and a xeon cpu then
he should have gotten 3x titanx with ddr4 ram and a xeon cpu then
I'm honestly not that far off. I have a i7 5960x with 32gb of DDR4 in that rig
I'm honestly not that far off. I have a i7 5960x with 32gb of DDR4 in that rig
yeah but I'm sure that's pretty useful for 4k I guess :v: and 32gb ram for modeling is obviously justified unless you downloaded ram
BINARY did it to bug us in the hardware section. No other reason.
Don't worry, that's the same reason I bought a $500 case.
yeah but I'm sure that's pretty useful for 4k I guess :v: and 32gb ram for modeling is obviously justified unless you downloaded ram
I work with hardware synthesis a lot, and that generally takes a really long time. Having that CPU actually speeds up my work significantly, so it's worth it. 32GB of RAM is just there for future proofing. I only upgrade once every 5 years or so.
I haven't seen an increase from x80 to ti in a very long time- it's brutal to the point of being scary. It can double the 980s fps at points, and even demolish aa with ease. In some tests it out performs 2 970s. I might just sell my 770(in my gfs computer) and jump to a 980ti from my 970. Id have to wait into fall to do so though.
NOOO I JUST BOUGHT MY GTX 980 SC FUCK FUCK FUCK :suicide:
NOOO I JUST BOUGHT MY GTX 980 SC FUCK FUCK FUCK :suicide:
You can upgrade if you bought evga
And here I am, still pondering if I should spend money on a 970.
You can upgrade if you bought evga
That'd be nice, bought my 980 last month :v:
That'd be nice, bought my 980 last month :v:
http://www.evga.com/support/stepup/ EVGA has really good support, it should be easy.

I don't get it, they already have a Titan X and a 980, what's with this random in between card? Also the Titan X is pointless to me as it doesn't have the Double Precision like the old cards. Titan should be a cheap tesla/workstation card, not whatever bullshit it is now.
I don't get it, they already have a Titan X and a 980, what's with this random in between card?
Titan and 980 are considered two seperate lines of cards serving different niches. A titan is not meant to replace a 980 and vice versa. The 980 TI is simply serving as an upgrade to the 980 as part of the mainstream branch, and Titan's status is unchanged as its own branch.

It's basically an expensive gaming card now. Where is the 950 Ti for us homeless people?
Are you kidding. I just bought the 980 like a week ago.
