My 780 maxes GTA at 1080p, sans ultra grass and excessive AA. [editline]2nd June 2015[/editline] Also not sure whether to sell my 780 and get a 980 Ti, keep it and get a cheaper used 780 for SLi, or just wait for the next generation and sell it then for whatever paltry amount it'll be worth.
Just wait honestly. Maxwell isn't anything groundbreaking aside from power consumption. Nvidias next lineup Pascal will have stacked memory akin to AMD's soon to be launched ones.
Well I submitted my step up for the TI. I took a screengrab of my invoice from my email that Newegg sent me but i did not grab the billing and shipping portion. Will that cause any issues?

Its not worth it if you are willing to wait for next generation which is going to be 2016 Q2-Q4 assumsing the latter. To late for me anyway I want to be ready for VR before that. And you gotta ask yourself one thing nvidia isnt going to release derp 300% more powerfull card in 2016. They will keep their performance increase a year just about how much they want it to. Need upgrade now, Do it now. You dont? Always better to wait. Personally I think your fine with a 780 for another year on 1080p. Opinions thought.
I just got a 970. Not worried though. As long as I don't have to drop to low settings, I'm happy.

And to keep it under the memory limit.

Also, I don't really care about "hair works". I care more about texture quality than hair.
That's weird, have to turn some settings down to keep a good fps. I'm running dual monitors off my one 760, does that mean I'd have to SLI to get dual monitors, or am I missing something?

You can run a maximum of four displays off it at once.
Ohhh, I didn't even notice the HDMI/displayport ones, I only looked for the DVI lol
Yeah, DVI won't be too common on high-end cards anymore. Even DVI-DL can only carry up to 2560x1600 while maintaining 60Hz, and cards like this one are designed to run a hell of a lot more than that. This runs HDMI 2.0 (which can hit 2160p at 60Hz) and DisplayPort 1.2 (also 2160p60).
Yeah, DVI won't be too common on high-end cards anymore. I'm going to wait on AMD, slow driver development aside, I love the R9 270X. Even with its wonky issues with Source and Crytek.
Having all DP ports seems like a much more flexibly solution since I can basically conver it to most other connections.
I'd prefer pure Mini-DP, to give more rear area to exhaust out of, and it's completely compatible with full-sized DP.
I'd prefer pure Mini-DP, to give more rear area to exhaust out of, and it's completely compatible with full-sized DP.
Does miniDP have any practical downsides besides perhaps being less robust?
Does miniDP have any practical downsides besides perhaps being less robust?
None that I know of. Same number of pins, same signal clock. Maybe harder to have longer cables?
Christ, 90% of a Titan X's performance for around 60% of the price? Looks like my 780 is being retired very soon.
Might be replacing my 580 soon
That's weird, have to turn some settings down to keep a good fps. And to keep it under the memory limit.
It is weird, but I guess it also kind of depends what fps you think is reasonable. A single 780 won't do solid 60fps, but it will do 40-60 depending on the location in the game. [editline]3rd June 2015[/editline] Also thanks for the advice, levelog and Stephen, the only reason I'd want to upgrade is that I want to get one of the new g-sync 21:9 monitors soon, but that's not until I finish moving. Got to wait for them to come out, too.
I have a 7950gt should I upgrade yet
god damn it i had to rma my 670(2 weeks of warranty left hae hae) a few weeks ago and asus told me it would take at least 2 weeks before they'd get back to me so i went insane after a few days and wanted a new card, i didnt think a 980 was worth the money so i bought a gigabyte 970 instead almost went for evga but i heard things about shitty build quality and didn't want to take the risk :(
Same card but I never noticed any issues in crysis stuff.
Only happens during over clock.
Same card but I never noticed any issues in crysis stuff.
C'mon dude, even my HD 2400 Pro was able to run Crysis 1

I'm still on a 9800gt lol. I don't have time for video games right now working full time. I keep thinking once I get a better schedule with more days off I'll get a new top of the line card from nvidia. It will be a huge improvement from my 9800gt lol. Haven't played games for about 4 years.

Additionally, build quality on 1 gen from OEM is going to be extremely close to reference; what matters is warranty and customer support, of which ASUS is shit and EVGA is the opposite.
On medium/low I'm guessing.
Yep.

Got an old beast of a GTX 560 ti, it's run overclocked for the better part of 4 years without a hitch and still comfortably maxes or near maxes everything I throw at it (granted, that's at 1650x1050). And my brother still has the EVGA GTX 460 I had before that, 5 years old and going strong. When I get round to upgrading will definitely be another EVGA card.
From what I've heard aren't some games not compatible with SLI? Sorry for asking out of context here.
