The right to own long guns was expanded, but handguns were banned and Jews were prevented from owning any guns.
I think you need to re-read the Second Amendment.

I know what the 2nd amendment says. It gives people an unalienable right to firearms, the well-regulated part is what they put in so that the right could evolve as firearms evolve. Assault weapons bans are archaic. They don't need to regulate which guns are legal, they need to keep guns out of the hands of idiots who make responsible gun owners look bad.

You misread that, man. Handguns weren't banned, they were the only type of firearm you needed a permit for.
Leave firearm laws and gun control to the states.
Leave background checks and quality control[production] to the federal government.

yes because that has been working so brilliantly already

you said undesirables (including jews)
from this it's just jews
also where's this handgun ban
They don't need to regulate which guns are legal, they need to keep guns out of the hands of idiots who make responsible gun owners look bad.
How?
Leave firearm laws and gun control to the states.

Leave it all to the central government, otherwise you get overlapping and confusing messes.
How?
Backround checks, mental health examination, proper safety courses.
I wonder if anyone who so valiantly defends the second amendment also would valiantly defending the 18th amendment when they removed that from the constitution.
Or is the whole thing just a farce of self-serving interests?
The Bill of Rights were a universally agreed upon set of rights created by the Founding Fathers at the constitutional conventions. The 18th Amendment was an amendment that came from authoritarians in the 20th century and was later repealed by another constitutional amendment. I don't see the connection you are trying to make.

So it doesn't matter what is wrote on the constitution, only when?
Is that how it works?
The Bill of Rights were a universally agreed upon set of rights created by the Founding Fathers at the constitutional conventions.
hey the founding fathers weren't a homogeneous blob of geniuses who agreed on everything
Backround checks, mental health examination, proper safety courses.
This.
People like James Holmes, there were warning signs of mental instability. Nobody did anything about it. Then he went on a massacre. This is not his AR15's fault.
You misread that, man. Handguns weren't banned, they were the only type of firearm you needed a permit for.
My mistake. Still though, requiring a permit is still a fundamental violation of our natural rights and is completely unacceptable. A permit also implies that the government has the authority to deny people this right and even take it away from them, thus it is effectively a gun ban.

permit = ban
obvious troll nothing to see here.
someone get this sucker a title.
hey the founding fathers weren't a homogeneous blob of geniuses who agreed on everything
Even the federalists agreed that the federal government needed limitations. That was one of the few things both groups could agree on.

Owning a gun isn't a natural right though.
Owning a gun isn't a natural right though.
In the US it is, not in ye ol' england it isn't, but in the US it is. We've been over this before.
In the US it is, not in ye ol' england it isn't, but in the US it is. We've been over this before.
It is EVERYWHERE, not just the US. Just because the British government chooses to disrespect that right, doesn't mean that the people don't have it. Our rights come from nature, not from the government.

Except if you lived 10,000 years ago and drafted up a list of natural rights, you could easily fit in "life, liberty and property" but not a privilege to own guns.

But we don't live 10,000 years ago. In the US, owning a firearm is a Right, get over it.

It's not a natural right as implied however.
The idea that it's /natural/ for humans to own guns is laughable.
It's not a natural right as implied however.
Neither are dogs. Britain's done a good job at banning some of them too.
It's not a natural right as implied however.
Technically speaking the right to defense, right to gather food, and pursuit of happiness are all natural rights.
All of which are bundled up in 'Right to keep and bear arms'.

It's not ~natural~ to have cars, electricity, or aircraft but I don't see you crusading to get rid of those.
It's not ~natural~ to have cars, electricity, or aircraft but I don't see you crusading to get rid of those.
I don't think anyone is arguing cars, power, or aircraft are natural rights.
Way to strawman.

Except it's guns we are speaking about.
It's natural for people to eat, but it isn't natural for people to own firearms.
Written under the first amendment is the freedom to practice religion. My religion says that I can own guns.
Convert to Mosinitarianism, problem solved.

People used to think that it was a natural right for white men to own slaves.
I'm not following that defunct mindset.

As long as it doesn't infringe upon the rights of others. In such a case, it would.
