Welp, time to go home.
don't spend money on itunes unless you got those voucher things as a gift... please save yourself.
Okay this thread can be ditched now that the news is bollocks.
itunes doesn't set the price
Apple doesn't set the price in the same way Steam doesn't organize all their sales. Sure the owner of the property has the final choice but that rarely is a problem when the retailer wants to lower prices.
Lazor, I managed to find a brand new vinyl album that included a CD version free for less than it was on sale in Itunes.
The arguement can kind of end there..
It's bullshit that you don't own the tracks anyway. I fucking paid for it, same price as I would in the shop. It's fucking mine.
This so hard.
I didn't even know we were "borrowing" them.

with steam, you're getting exactly the same content as the disc.

for 99% of music consumers, the content is effectively the same between a CD and the same thing from itunes.

stop bringing marketability bullshit into the discussion.
What is so good about what itunes sells that is so much better than anything else? I'm guessing it's the nice glossy finish to the apple logo that makes everyone smile. :)

Convenience?
I think even the average consumer knows CD's/vinyl have better sound quality but either they don't care or don't have the hardware to tell a difference. So why would those people make a trip to a record store or buy a physical album online when with one click they could immediately listen to the album on their iPhone?
it's a good answer, but not one that fills me with any sympathy for people who want more out of their apple.
I'm pretty sure Bruce isn't the only one whose sick of the lack of control over their own music, even if the story is fake.

The whole itunes integration isn't the smoothest thing to use either so the entire convenience thing doesn't really gel when other aspects of the service are poor.

I wouldn't even blame the iTunes 'revolution.' People stopped caring about music quality as soon as they realized they could download thousands of mp3's from Napster and Lime wire for free. iTunes just made that legal :/

I didn't even realize that you didn't legally own the music you bought on iTunes before I read this article. But I have several backups, so fuck you Apple.

My experience with iTunes and syncing has always been very smooth, but I haven't used iTunes in ages :v:
Not that there's anything wrong with iTunes, there's just better ways of listening to music such as Radio and Spotify, and actual physical media.
snip
Make your shit mp3 format and back it up! They can never take it from you that way.
I'm still slightly pissed that iTunes doesn't have AC:DC in the store yet, but that's what CDs are for :v:
...And uTorrent
