Free market is bullshit. People are just going to buy whichever kind of candy bars they prefer. They know they can spike the prices and people will still buy the same ones.
In this situation we're talking about monopolistic competition (i.e. there's competition but consumers prefer a certain product so the producer can act like a monopolist) which is arguably not a free market situation (since it prevents new companies from entering the market)
What. In the UK it's like 45/50p for a bar.
That's like 65 cents.
What they do with the cocoa farmers and co-operatives is disgusting enough already let alone this bullshit.
Is making unhealthy chocolates more expensive really a bad thing?
Not really, but it has to be done through taxes, not through increasing a companies' profit margins.
chocolate should be free everywhere, forever
this would solve all problems with society, or just make me not care about them
I'm reminded of the hotel I stayed at recently, the catering menu (which contained "2 eggs any style" for $17) offered a kit kat bar for $8. I asked at the front desk about it and they showed me a 2-bar snack packet

there was also a $7 box of M&M's in the rigged minifridge, in a 2"x2"x1/2" plastic box thinger
Curse you martian rocks!!
I wouldn't doubt it. they're really the only two guys in the biz besides hersheys
It's theobromine found in cocoa that is highly poisonous to dogs. The caffeine is also bad for them but unlike theobromine it's unlikely to cause seizures/death.
Caffeine breaks down into theobromine.
because unlike americans, canadians dont take to the streets and start swinging mis-spelled signs around when Twinkies stop being sold.
at least, i hope so.
Hey, we didn't even do that. We just scalped them on eBay! :v:
