You used a poor example then. Either way, Airdrop is just the substitute for what bluetooth can already do in modern phones (and what it could do in pre-smartphone devices).
It's not a substitute, its zero config, unlike bluetooth.
(And that was a fine example, thank you very much. It's the place I spend the most amount of time in without a network connection)
There are other programs you can use to sync your iPhone. WinAMP even let's you put files on the thing. Of course, you still have to have itunes installed that initial time. Even then iTunes really isn't that bad, other then it's bloat if you just renable the sidebar. And I don't have to deal with it that much, after the initial putting music on.
Actually you haven't needed to have itunes at all since iOS4(or 5?). The initial install doesn't require you to have it plugged into iTunes anymore, that was stupid as hell, it's good that they got rid of that. Maybe there are still some certain things you need iTunes for, but I haven't needed it at all anymore.

Oh they're going to crash and burn within the next 10 years. Tim Cook doesn't know what to do, hence why everything lately has just been a rehash with new specs (haswell macbooks) and crap everyone wanted in the next os (finder taps, dual monitors not blowing cock)

iOS Devices: Awful build quality.
Android devices: Usually awful build quality.

Microsoft has moved to the smaller upgrades to the OS, like 8.1.
And Microsoft does sell hardware. Did you forget about this guy?

No shit sherlock, I'm fully aware they sell some hardware. But they do not sell actual desktop PCs (which have always been their bread and butter); they have never tried to move their primary business away from selling an operating system that PC manufacturers supply the parts for (as far as I can see it).

apple also only has a dual core processor in the iphone
YET IT'S STILL SMOOTHER THAN GALAXY S4 WITH FUCKTUPLION CORES
throwing more memory/cores/pixels doesn't make a good product

yeah microsoft is TOTALLY not trying to move to an apple-like platform
and they totally did not acquire the biggest Windows Phone OEM.

I'm pretty hard on my iPhone 4, but I've only ever had the back glass break on me when it was out of the bumper and fell onto the sidewalk from about 6 feet. The repair was only 30$ and took 15 minutes, the apple guys were super nice and even talked to me about my thoughts on iOS7.

I've used the iPhone 5 and it clogs up the same as any other phone on the market once you give it something serious to do; I imagine the actual reason is that the solid state memory isn't that great at this point in time and for the price phone manufacturers are willing to pay.
And I'm sorry, but I have an i7-980x (6 x 3.33GHz cores), and I have to say that throwing additional cores and a fuckton of memory does make for a better experience over someone still using a core 2 duo.

It's still more fun then look out of a window at trees watching the land slowly evolve from regular trees to palm trees and then sand on an 8 hour trip from North Carolina to central florida.

That is still mobile phones though; the desktop PC market is still a huge behemoth. A lot of tasks also cannot be replaced by mobile devices.
I don't really care for their phones and shit though, they did make some rad keyboard/mice and gaming controllers back in the day.

Thunderbolt isn't apple proprietary, its INTEL proprietary.
You can find it on many devices besides Apples now, including on Dell, Asus, Sony, Toshiba, Acer, HP, Samsung, and Lenovo laptops. Many Motherboard manufacturers have started adding the port to their motherboards too.
