I concur, it at least has a level of professionalism about it.
Kinda sad hearing a grown adult acting like that however.
ya but then trump hasn't disappointed in being awful for people who actually care about more than their immediate selves.
Not many professions that I would actually look down on someone for having, but man, this is definitely one I'd have a laugh about if someone introduced themselves as.
Art as social commentary is nothing new, and is an important part of art history.
What I really wanna know is why Chris Evans is the one holding the head
I somehow read that as "Rich Evans" and was horribly confused
I don't personally like it as it seems extraordinarily distasteful, but I think it should stay on freedom of speech grounds.
Oh boy, try visiting like a modern art exhibition some time.
It gets way weirder and distasteful. The only difference in this case is that it's very topical currently.

Unpopular opinion but I'm really not fond of artwork portraying the decapitated head of our president.

You reacting that way is very much intended, and nothing is wrong with that reaction.
Art like this is often meant to offend or challenge social norms.
I think that the best art is the art that gets a reaction out of you, be it a good or bad one.

Same.
That and if the guy wants to have a conversation with opposing viewpoints, picturing Trump being decapitated by Chris Evans just seems like you said tacky, and in my opinion does nothing but derail whatever constructive conversation you could have since it is so ridiculous.
Just going off the images in the OP but it doesn't look like that great a painting.
It looks like the artist just copied some photos of their faces verbatim.
I don't like Trump, and I support artistic expression, but this piece just puts me off. I guess that's the point though.

I have to agree with this. I don't really like this from any other viewpoint than the technical skill involved. (not that I'm qualified to criticise even that)
Sure it's getting a reaction, but then again it's sort of a cheap shot.
It's a controversial celebrity meme piece shown in a big exhibition. (last bit being the most important, really. Nobody cares about the 300 similar Deviantart pieces.)
The entire situation is simply tailored to get a reaction from the media.

Personally I think we should decapitate all our presidents for the sake of art.
What was wrong with punching fascist bullies?
