why is it to have anything fair, we have to start a massive riot?
all boils down to incompetence, really
How are we gonna notice an improvement either way, we just won't notice when things run smoothly, we will just be staring cross-eyed at cat videos and listening to septic eye screaming nonsense at us.

Either the shit we upload will get flagged and we get our strike/ToS or it goes up and stays up.
How cute, trying to make us think they actually care.
I don't have time to add up all of the corners in the characters of your post, but I don't think there are enough geometric edges there to make this metaphor worth it Why would they not care? They're a massive company - or subdivision of Google now, I guess? Not sure how that functions in practical terms. The thing is, they have a big old userbase, and they obviously want to keep them happy. They must make a shitton. They must also understand that enough discontent is going to drive people away. I don't know what level of 'caring' you expect - no company is going to send you flowers when you're sick. But I don't doubt that they care about making sure everything runs as smoothy as possible and that their userbase is as happy as possible within the practical and legal constraints of their service delivery. And when roughly 300-500 hours of video are uploaded every minute (which I imagine results in hundreds of copyright issues every minute), it's very difficult to manually police that stuff. Community-led video distribution has never happened on this scale before. Charlie Chaplain would be shitting his pants. Give Youtube a break and maybe trust that they're trying to figure out the best solution to an incredibly difficult human resources and copyright law problem
You know what would of been better YouTube? Fixing things then telling us about it and apologizing.
Great! Now people can return to their usual content instead complaining about youtube.
Yes how dare they do something when their livelihood is in danger.
You know what would of been better YouTube? Fixing things then telling us about it and apologizing.
Why? The HR rep doesn't make or implement legal/logistical/economic/engineering decisions. Why not both?
Why? The HR rep doesn't make or implement legal/logistical/economic/engineering decisions. Why not both?
Not saying it can't be, but at this point I'd get more out of seeing proper action. Too many companies have done the "We'll look into it :^)))))" and never actually done anything about it. Edit: I think we, as consumers, have been burned far too often by companies that have pulled that. Is it a bit unfair to be skeptical of YouTube? Yes, in some respects, but I feel that we're entirely justified for feeling the way we do.
I'll believe it when they finally start dragging those who abuses their DMCA system to court, both companies and mere persons. Until then, it's all hot air and sweet lies to me.
You know what would solve this issue almost perfectly? Actually make the copyright claim system a full DCMA request portal so there's legal reprecussions for falsification. Because as it stands Youtube has all the cons and none of the pros of the system. That, and then hold all ad money in escrow until the claim is settled. This would be something like idk, 6 months with no dispute or when the dispute is settled.
legal reprecussions would be amazing I've love to see "Companies" whose sole existence is to abuse youtubes system being sued into fucking debt
Agreed, the idea of crummy little scam-houses like Merlin getting bitchslapped around a court room sounds very entertaining indeed EDIT- Shit, we should live stream it on youtube! Make some of that sweet, sweet internet money.
I cant believe Grade actually did something. Like, where did the time go? When did he get so big?
He was one of the many who complained, he didn't achieve that solo.
HAHA no you don't
Case in point: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1508056 Though maybe the person monitoring this shit is deaf and blind?
I knew it was bad when I saw this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9jk8IDAjBU
Slapping you in the face for posting that would send a clear message. :v:
is this a real post
I knew it was bad when I saw this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9jk8IDAjBU
yeah but that is a much different problem really, even if it still is a problem
I'll believe it when they finally start dragging those who abuses their DMCA system to court, both companies and mere persons. Can they fix their slow as shit servers too? I have 75mbps internet and I still can't watch videos in 1080p half the time I'm on youtube it's infuriating.
The fact that they said they haven't seen a big change in the removal of channels makes me a bit nervous. Kind of makes their statement that they monitor that shit seem very weak.
If I'm not mistaken, they've said this shit before. I don't believe them.
