When is says "attack", what does it do? Start torrenting child porn on your connection so the FBI show up?
I assume it can do something along the lines of electronically jam your network or maybe disable it from the inside out.
1). Strap on camera.
2). Park SkyNET in air when hot girl is changing.
3). ???

5). Leech their WiFi while spying on them.

7). EVEN MORE PROFIT!!!

Although it could, why would it even bother with breaking in? A microwave with a very small cut in it can jam a wireless network.
Aren't these really old? I could swear I've seen commercials for them before.
yes, but this one steals your wi-fi.

it already has an onboard camera. You control it with a phone app.

British military have had satellites called skynet since the 70s

STOP STEALING MY LINES, DAMNIT.
By Linux box strapped to an RC helicopter I think it means it can basically do anything a linux can do except it fucking flies.
If i see one of those outside my home can't i just shoot it with an airsoft or paintball gun?

The whole point was that it wouldn't be seen outside.
Maybe it'd land on your roof if it wanted to stay there and monitor over time.

If they find a better power source for the drone and it being possible to land it on the targets roof for long periods of time to crack WPA without being blown off the roof by wind then this will bring WiFi Hacking to a whole new level.

If they made it out of metal it could be more durable and be heavier, helping prevent being blown by the wind.
They could possibly use solar power or something similar so the drone could just sit on the roof all day and use the sunlight to keep itself charged.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there's not much space on its hull for solar panels even if you have the entire skin lined with something like paper solar panel cells your not going to get the charge needed from solar.
It looks cute.
Add a HDD and a bittorent client.
Perch on someone's roof/somewhere it won't get spotted at.
Pirate like a champ.
You get your stuff without any risk.

If it just sat there all day and happened to be very energy efficient then the solar panel idea might work.
There's not many other ways of getting power that would make it completely self sufficient.
If i see one of those outside my home can't i just shoot it with an airsoft or paintball gun?
It has to be in range of your wifi, so throwing rocks would be an option.
Isn't this...
Illegal?
No, as long as the government isn't using it on private citizens.
If I understand correctly this group at the Stevens Institute of Technology just created this, as long as it isn't actually being used on people without their consent it should be legal.
Interesting.

It was on sale last week.

The blades are above the solar panel - they'd cause power losses in addition to making it heavier. If they wanted to do this effectively they'd have to put the blades way further out to avoid shading the panel, and it'd probably only generate decent energy at mid-day when the sun is directly overhead unless it had some kind of routine to land on a slanted rooftop to aim for the sun.
The heavy metal frame to make it more stable is also a bad idea, because adding more weight means more power needed to lift it - which will probably be an especially dramatic increase because you'll need even heavier batteries to power it... so it'll basically be huge and defeat the whole purpose of being discreet.
