By Linux box strapped to an RC helicopter I think it means it can basically do anything a linux can do except it fucking flies.

They could possibly use solar power or something similar so the drone could just sit on the roof all day and use the sunlight to keep itself charged.

There's not many other ways of getting power that would make it completely self sufficient.

If they wanted to do this effectively they'd have to put the blades way further out to avoid shading the panel, and it'd probably only generate decent energy at mid-day when the sun is directly overhead unless it had some kind of routine to land on a slanted rooftop to aim for the sun. The heavy metal frame to make it more stable is also a bad idea, because adding more weight means more power needed to lift it - which will probably be an especially dramatic increase because you'll need even heavier batteries to power it... so it'll basically be huge and defeat the whole purpose of being discreet.
