Shark Cards are why the game is grindy, feels p2p even though you bought it for 60 dollars, why GTAO is absolute shit in general, why they probably require Social Club DRM, why they don't like modders or the idea of "free" servers gta4 style where you don't have to grind for hours to have fun.
Oh but that's worth the "free" car dlc i have to spend 1 weeks worth of playtime money to buy! Thanks rockstar, you have saved gaming!
Not ever buying another Rockstar game. I was excited for any GTA5 dlc but fuck that, I'd rather take 60 dollars and throw it out the window. At least that would be fun for a few seconds.
I really can't believe there wasn't a bigger outcry when they announced an in-game currency. Every single god damn time a company does that, it poisons the game. It's like a plague.
You speak of this "grind" but I've never experienced any grinding even after putting well over 200 hours into the game.
Only casual gamers would ever need shark cards. I've accumulated more than 20 million by simply playing heists & missions with friends which is great fun. That's the whole point of the game.
If you don't like playing heists/missions/other jobs then this game simply isn't for you.
However, what I am really mad at rockstar about is the fact that it's filled with cheaters/hackers and rockstar isn't doing a damn thing about it.
And now they're focusing on banning responsible modders instead of all those hackers WTF?

“The FiveM project is an unauthorized alternate multiplayer service that contains code designed to facilitate piracy. Our policy on such violations of our terms of service are clear, and the individuals involved in its creation have had their Social Club accounts suspended.”
BUT THAT'S FUCKING BULLSHIIIIT
IT DOESN'T ALLOW FOR PIRACY YOU LYING HYPOCRITICAL PEOPLE

20 million when there are only 5 heists and the most one of them is gonna give you is $500,000 if you're the host? Sounds like grinding to me

Exactly what I thought, some lawyers misunderstood its purpose and hastily banned them to prevent some piracy scandal/hot coffee 2 which is what they've always been nervous about. I wouldn't be surprised if they realized their mistake because of all this backlash.

I think you're missing the point. Doing various different jobs on GTA:O with other players is the main point of the game.
If you're just grinding one mission/heist to get money then you're doing it wrong and are obviously not enjoying the game.
Side note: Grinding Rooftop Rumble before it got nerfed was actually kind of fun and enjoyable.
Can't believe how many fools there are here that actually think Rockstar is in the wrong for doing this.
how? modding isn't breaking anything.
Nice.
The networking in GTA 5 is a fucking joke.
It's TRUE p2p, meaning that player positions are sent to EVERYONE in the lobby, THERE IS NO HOST.
I can't play with more than 4 people in the same lobby because of this... no, not even freeroam.
Also i can't play one of the heists because of this - i get disconnected everytime enemies engage from all sides in a particular part of the mission.
Oh and your loading times are through the fucking roof on a 2mbps connection.
Cloud simulator 2015, money well spent.
Cool, now ban hackers, or at the very least fix the reporting system.

So you're saying rockstar can legally ban you from the fucking SINGLEPLAYER GAME?
Shark cards are why all the DLC is free, find something else to bitch about
That seems more like an excuse than anything else tbh. It's not like the DLC they're occasionally releasing is anything big. And they'd take a PR hit if they sold them as micro DLC, or they wouldn't have sold it at all.
They kinda twisted the situation in such a clever way that they have both the looks of a good guy and microtransactions in their game.

Also this. The mere existence of shark cards are essentially the reason Online sucks. The moment money gets actively involved like this, fun has to be regulated and scheduled. It's not a game with microtransactions added on top, as much as Rockstar likes to imply that. Online was designed around the shark cards as a source of income. It has ruined Online, and indirectly also damaged singleplayer.
I guarantee you guys will still buy GTA VI. Rockstar's hype machine has you by the balls.

What surprised me was that it doesn't account for regions, so I was getting Chinese, Brazilians, Canadians, Australians and Europeans all in the same lobby. The experience was kind of off, putting it mildly.
Maybe they're in the right from the legal perspective, but yeah Rockstar, thanks for eliminating the only way for me to even remotely hope to enjoy your game, fuck you.

Dunno, they kicked mine pretty hard.
So you're saying rockstar can legally ban you from the fucking SINGLEPLAYER GAME?
If you are breaking their terms of use/service and costing them thousands of dollars, yes.
They deserve to get fucking pirated. Fuck these retarded cunts.
I'd say they are treading very close to Konami.
If you are breaking their terms of use/service and costing them thousands of dollars, yes.
Still hypocritical to say they allow singleplayer mods when fivem is exactly that.
no, not even close
this is a videogame turning into shit, konami is a company that is wiping an entire history of videogames away and fucking developers in the pooper
To be fair rockstar is fucking over their consumers more than konami is fucking over their's
If you are breaking their terms of use/service and costing them thousands of dollars, yes.
Let's skip the point about breaking their terms of use (of something you bought mind you), but how are they costing R* thousands of dollars? Are you just trying to get a rise out of people or do you actually believe R* is justified in trying to push gimmicky in-game currency for real money after asking 60$ for the base game?
gta5 has microtransactions and awful netcode/hacking issues
silent hills was cancelled, and the series is now pachinko fodder
mgs is going to have microtransactions, will probably lose support soon after the launch of mgo, and the series will be farmed out to shitty eastern european devs and possibly will also be pachinko fodder
lets not even go into how konamis workplace conditions are a nightmare
gta5 has microtransactions, silent hills never came out so there are no consumers for it
mgs's microtransactions look like they are the same type as gta v's
gta5 has anti-consumer stuff like what they did to fivem
If you are breaking their terms of use/service and costing them thousands of dollars, yes.
As if players who use fivem would have bought shark cards instead. You're delusional
The most fun I had in GTAIV multiplayer was fucking around with mods with friends(Carmageddon anyone?). Since that's not allowed in GTA:O the only alternative is a mod based on single player.
I'll just wait till FiveM gets closer to finished or something better comes along before I even open the game again.

Fivem is doing pretty good tbh
Still hypocritical to say they allow singleplayer mods when fivem is exactly that.
It's not like they're not limited to looking at things on a case by case basis, are they?

So this has become a debate about whether or not it's ethical to have in game currency that can be bought with real money?
As if players who use fivem would have bought shark cards instead. You're delusional
Impeccable reasoning. I'm sure Rockstar's financial team said the exact same thing: they wouldn't have bought cards anyway!
Yeah, no, that's not how finance works.
I know you guys are angry but come on, comparing R* to fucking Konami? Their metaphorical distance is same as their real one. Too far to compare.

No, I asked you to clarify your position. You simply said they are costing R* thousands of dollars. Why/how this happens is quite important to the discussion. Whether or not you believe the mod will lead to a drop in in-game currency purchases and therefore cost R* money is essential.
I might have used a bit of a colourful language but that is only because I do believe selling in-game currency with real money or forcing people to grind for it otherwise is a gimmick and a huge disappointment in a game of such massive scale and potential. I am not even debating ethics of anything.
It kinda makes sense for R* to do this. FiveM is miles better than GTAO. If everyone switches to FiveM(and why wouldn't they), chances of selling shart cards drops considerably.
Can't believe how many fools there are here that actually think Rockstar is in the wrong for doing this.
Nice.
how does a mod which requires you to have an account in good standing to use being banned for piracy reasons make sense?

By driving players away from Rockstar's multiplayer service (that relies on people buying shark cards), Rockstar is losing potential profit that is in the thousands of dollars because many players will abandon their service.
how does a mod which requires you to have an account in good standing to use being banned for piracy reasons make sense?
See above and see Rockstar's ToS/ToU.
I'm attempting to refund my copy of GTA5 despite nearly 170 hours played. This is absurd.
Maybe they should've made a better game
Maybe, but they didn't. So now they want to remove their competitor.
