Trump may be floating a plan to fire Jeff Sessions, potentially jeopardizing Mueller's Russia probe

Can't Senate re-hire Mueller as Special Investigator under their jurisdiction if he gets fired? I thought several Senators announced that if Trump fired him they'd appoint him as their investigator asap.
