Churches take in voluntary donations, it's hardly scamming.
How do they explain Genesis then?

"The Bible simply isn't interested in how the Universe came into being."
If religion was more of a way of life instead of a way of life and the answers to all of the universe's mysteries, then I'd have no problem with it.
It'll be a grand day when science and religion can go hand in hand
It's deceptively easy to do this though....

Yeah, but when you fear the mighty wrath of god and the eternal damnation of hell, you're more than willing to give up 10% of your wages to learn how to fear god and hell better.

The day religion and science go hand in hand is the day religion is extinguished.

Only Mormonism has a tithe policy

Jesus should have healed him. Science makes his life livable.
I'll trust in science.
Only Mormonism has a tithe policy
Friend of mine is a Christian and he pays tithe. Whether or not it's mandatory isn't relevant.
Besides, when your service is to offer nothing more than baseless speculation about the universe and life, I'd say that's the definition of a scam, wouldn't you?

Where on Earth is the bible an answer to the mysteries of the universe?

Yes it is, being mandatory is a scam, voluntarily is charity.
only thing religion causes is war and rules. so please become atheists
Utah.
I meant where in the bible does it say that but I'll accept that.

Name 5 religious wars in the last 100 years.

Anywhere that a person tries to convince another that anything in the bible is the truth or the authority as opposed to scientific knowledge and discovery.

It was badly phrased read my later comment.

He pays because he fears and he's brainwashed. I don't call that voluntary.
He pays because he fears and he's brainwashed. I don't call that voluntary.
Which sect?
It was badly phrased read my later comment.
I don't know the specific passage, but I've heard it quite a bit. Something along the lines of "My word is the truth, for if it weren't, I would not have told you so." Or some shit.
Also, the fact that you either take the bible as it is, or you discard it. You can't pick and choose.
[editline]07:29PM[/editline]
Which sect?
Not sure. I can find out on my way home, his church is on my street ironically. (I didn't know where it was, I moved and then found out).

The bible is simply there to deliver the message of god, not as a scientific document, people don't seem to understand this though.
Either you can believe in a superstitious explanation in regards to how the universe was created or you can wait for a scientific answer, and although you may die before you get that answer, you'll never be part of the crowd that participated in the ignorance/delusion known as religion itself.

How would that work? Whether you believe in a god or not doesn't matter much, but completely nulling religion is almost as foolish as denying science.
Do admit that there seems to be something wrong with some of the churches. (as far as I know)

No he doesn't need to name 5 religious wars. He said religion started wars. And there's not enough wars within 100 years these days. But there's certainly enough conflict because of religion.

Science is based on evidence, Religion is based on primitive beliefs.
You can't say that religion is wrong but the same goes for me claiming I'm a moon-pig from the third moon of Unkion.

Wars are started over all kinds of ideologies, religious ideological differences just happen to be one of them . As long as people disagree there will be wars.

You really think that if religion was phased out of our culture, we'd be worse off for it? I've got all the morals and none of the supersitition, so what's the problem?

Pacifism is ridiculous, what would you do if someone was trying to kill you?
There ARE some situations in which violence in necessary.

I'm not, we're going to war!
Also funny avatar considering that.
Man made god, not the other way around.
Religion is stupid and believes in some scifi book.
