You are telling other people not to criticize the GOP under the guise of "generalizing".
Telling someone to quit being a child and calling everyone in a group racists with dicks that don't work properly is not asking someone to defend a political party. You wonder why politics is so awful nowadays? Nobody takes it seriously. And that's exactly why. [editline]28th September 2013[/editline]
You can't name any reasonable Republicans so the onus is placed on others.
I can name several Republican congressmen with liberal bias. I am not going to, because I'm sick of this "prove it" bullshit. Do your own research.
Maybe they just don't like the way he dresses...
Yeah, clothes or skin? You wouldn't believe how many slimeballs are still resentful of a "slave-boy" being in office instead of on their plantation fields.
i think he's trying to say "republican =/= republican party leadership"
Which is another general statement that doesn't mean anything. What does Republican even mean? A member of the party? Someone who votes Republican? A registered Republican? Federal or local level?
Telling someone to quit being a child and calling everyone in a group racists with dicks that don't work properly is not asking someone to defend a political party.
Not gonna speak for Sigma, I'm replying to your allegation that because hitherto unknown "reasonable Republicans" exist somewhere that the party's positions can't be argued against.
Why does anyone bother arguing against parties anyway? The entire party system is a fucking smoke screen. Notice how everyone thinks McCain is a lot cooler now that he isn't running for the presidency? Yeah, because to get the ticket in the first place he has to align himself with party views. There is no unified Republican party or Democratic party, only louder people who can say things that align with party views. [editline]28th September 2013[/editline]
lol, if you are sick of this "prove it bullshit" then don't make claims.
I can make claims all I like as long as I'm not making an argument. Enjoy your moral high ground though.
I swear, born and raised in South Carolina being the joke of the United States. Move to North Carolina, and within two years North Carolina starts becoming the butt of every "but seriously" joke in America. Get me away from these fucking crazy people
Can you imagine what a Disabled Carer would say to this guy?
Notice how everyone thinks McCain is a lot cooler now that he isn't running for the presidency?
Reminder that McCain thinks gays are second class citizens and wants to be perpetually at war.
I can make claims all I like as long as I'm not making an argument. Enjoy your moral high ground though.
I'm just amused at FP's double standards for political parties in the US. Criticism of the Republicans gets shot down almost immediately with the unsubstantiated claim that because some small group amongst them is atleast a little bit sane but the Democratic party as a whole gets painted as socialist gun-grabbers because one senator supports a ban against some guns.
You won't catch me dead calling the Democrats anything. I would be calling this shit out if someone was giving the Democrats shit too. Like, I'm just pointing out that bitching about parties is extremely nearsighted.
I wonder if there will ever be a day where politicians will sit down and try do the right thing instead of throwing shit at each other. And I mean this anywhere in the world
I wonder if there will ever be a day where politicians will sit down and try do the right thing instead of throwing shit at each other. And I mean this anywhere in the world
As long as there is something to fight about, people will fight about it. No Matter how stupid it is. Well, at least from my experience.
I've seen Republicans with some good ideas with bad ideas, but I've yet to see any politician with 100% good ideas.
Do you guys even know what is actually in "Obamacare"? Forcing people to get health insurance, that's what, if you don't get it, then you get fucking fined, if you can't or don't pay the fine, then it's off to jail with your ass. It's gonna fuck up poor(but not too poor) families really badly.
I agree. Most people here seem to think nothing of it or don't care but the fact is Obamacare is really expensive and really screws with the lower class people. The entire Obamacare thing was a plan for the Democrats to rush and hurry something past congress just for the sake of rushing past congress and it didn't seem too well thought out, obviously. I say they repeal it and come up with a better plan for both parties, and the sooner the better. But hey, it's easier to say fuck the republicans just because, right?

My family has had Health Care way before Obamacare came along. The day it surfaced though, health care prices skyrocketed because "lol we can do what we want because you have no choice." How about we put restrictions on private corporations that have Federal laws forcing us to use them? Or just bust up Oligarchies?
well the point of the public exchanges is to put a goverment foot in the market, so to shake up the industry, at least that is truely what the idea of the bill is to do. sort of like how private space is now battling state-sponsored space companies who have had free reign to set whatever prices they want for launches. i think the democrats should put a deal on the table though to hash out some of the contested areas of the ACA instead of ignore the other guys, but the republicans need to realise that its not going away, and its not to be defunded, so they should stop doing this and try to open this dialogue about what they feel is wrong with the bill. in my view its an ungodly horrible piece of shit, and everytime i see anything about it i recall watching nancy paloski making her speech about how we must pass the bill before being able to read it, that just makes me really pissed off because their job is to read the fucking shit they are passing before they vote on it. there are too many parts of the bill that are horribly bloated and just wrong and they needed to be hashed out. too bad the republicans won't stop trying to kill this bill, and the dems won't stop ignoring the questions raised about it
If health insurance would take up 8% or more of your budget, you are exempt from the tax. 8%. That's less than a twelfth.
God damn it Mark! you represent me, now stop being stupid.
If health insurance would take up 8% or more of your budget, you are exempt from the tax. 8%. That's less than a twelfth.
Tch. That's good to hear, considering that ever since my dad got laid-off and went on unemployment pay, he also lost all his benefits and the health insurance we have now is such a dramatic increase in price that it's even more than our rent, so we probably qualify. Which is probably a blessing since we've gotten screwed on taxes before; a few years ago our "tax return" actually ended up with us owing the state three grand for some reason. Part of why we stopped getting our taxes done by our racist drunkard Republican accountant of an uncle.
I see no reason why the Republican party platform or the majority of Republicans who consistently vote according to it can't be criticized. As for reasonable Republicans, name three.
Ron Paul, John Mccain (Sometimes.), and I'm sure there's at least one more somewhere.
Ron Paul, John Mccain (Sometimes.), and I'm sure there's at least one more somewhere.
Just to let you know, whatever names you give him won't be accepted as whatever he deems "reasonable" will be just out of reach no matter whom it is.
Ron Paul, John Mccain (Sometimes.), and I'm sure there's at least one more somewhere.
Of the two mentioned I'd honestly say Ron Paul is the closest to reasonable you can get. I disagree with most of his policy but atleast he is consistent. McCain isn't really reasonable. He had advocated a more or less perpetual war in the Middle East since 9/11 and his domestic and social policy needs serious work.
Just to let you know, whatever names you give him won't be accepted as whatever he deems "reasonable" will be just out of reach no matter whom it is.
If "reasonable" is this warm and gooey feeling that only each and every one of us can feel in our own special way, why is "well there are a few reasonable republicans so stop criticizing the party" still a line of defense?

The fine in the law is toothless. It specifically states that the government cannot charge you with a crime nor seize property to pay the fine. I've had this debate far too often and I am not trawling through a document of hundreds of pages caked in legalese yet again. He does have policy flaws, but I think they're more or less just bandwagoning, and if he were elected president, (almost) completely harmless, as none of it would ever make it through congress. Furthermore, at least he's not an idiot.
