Oh man, Star Fox. I remember playing Star Fox 64 for hours on end on my Nintendo 64 when I was still attending kindergarten and the first grade. Several mission threads such as trying to save your comrade to fighting the Wolf squadron were all of the highlights of that game. When Star Fox Adventures came around, I was a little more disappointed that they kinda ditched the space battle formula in favor for an adventure game. It was still an entertaining game in its own right, and it hasn't fully tarnished the series for me. Star Fox 64 is still a great space shooter and I was a huge fan of the franchise until I looked up its fanart on DeviantArt.
the freeform battle with wolf squadron with the independance day flying saucer in the middle of the arena was always so intense I'd always play the game through that path I think the feel of that kind of fight is why I loved the game Project Sylpheed. If you haven't played that and have a 360 go find a copy right now
Yep. I hate fun. Just haaaate the stuff! Sorry if its a bummer to hear about or w/e it might be to you, but Nintendo doing only what Nintendo has done for the past 30 years is highly uninteresting.
how do you not understand that the things nintendo actually does best are continuous IPs
I highly doubt the game will be 300$
in his defence, his point is that people seem are excited enough that they'd buy a whole system just like anybody who finds a reason to buy a specific system

One day, I was the first one to make it all the way to Andross. Upon seeing the big floating head for the first time, our faces were filled with both utter terror and excitement. After defeating Andross, I made the daring escape from the tunnels, which was followed by thunderous cheers from my friends. I had beaten Starfox 64. It was a good day.
I didn't care about Smash Bros, nor did I care about Mariokart, but a new Starfox may just sell me a WiiU.
And I just got a wii u 4 days ago, fuck yessss.
Wow so nintendo is finally pulling out the big guns About time
I know the entire script to Star Fox 64 by heart. When I was little I used to recite everything that was said in the game. I'm so happy this was announced. The hype is fucking real.
I doubt it will be much different. I would love to be wrong, but I doubt this will push boundaries or anything for a Starfox game.
holy shit its been almost a decade since the last Star Fox game stop shitposting and actually think this through
holy shit its been almost a decade since the last Star Fox game stop shitposting and actually think this through
There was one for the DS, so Assault wasn't the last one.
I'm not saying the games are the same
Really because it seems like that's exactly what you're doing.
I am gonna start putting money aside for a Wii U, it's decided
I feel like a boss for buying one this past Friday. :P
Dude, Nintendo needs to get some new IPs already. They're still trying to coast along on the kid's stuff they were selling 20 years ago. You can't run a whole company on nostalgia sales alone.
I'm not even a star fox fan and I know this is a big deal but even then they aren't doing that much that is new new

Time to get a Wii U :v:
I intend to get a WiiU this summer. No exceptions. Even though none of this is out till next year.
How about something new? Tomodachi Life is a really neat thing for them to do, but I don't care about more "muh childhood"-pandering. [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] Ooooooh. A pretty version of the game I've already played! Time to spend $300 to chase after my youth memories!!
Have you even played a nintendo game lmao its easy to spot people who dont play nintendo games even though they are always blatantly different as sequels
I don't see why no new IPs is always a bad thing. Why does it matter what characters or setting a game uses as long as the gameplay is different?
"...You can transform your Arwing into a Land Tank..." Are they re-using part of the walker transformation idea from the unreleased Star Fox 2??? Ohmighoshsaaifdsk If they brought that back full swing somehow I could die happy. Just imagine. Need to be on the ground but can't get out of your ship? Just transform your Arwing into a walker mech and fuck shit up on the GROUNNDD But I guess a tank is okay, too.
no fun allowed
If everyone did what Nintendo's been doing for years we'd all just be playing fancy versions of Pong, Pacman, Space Invaders and Death Race. It's not just Nintendo, but they've been doing it longer Everything is just sequels lately, very few new IPs, and even fewer good ones

It's pretty obvious they're using Star Fox 64's 3DS remake assets for a very alpha test build there, but at least it means they're getting the basics down first before they make a full blown game.
People greatly enjoy what Nintendo has been doing for the last 30 years (well, for the most part), why change a winning formula?
There's a notable line between rehashing and improving Trust me i'm HYPE for nintendo this year. I was tired of mario party 47 and super new newer mario brother bros 18, so bringing back SF gives lots of leeway since the first was so long ago, not to mention smash bros air ride mode, and all the other good stuff
In a sense with the IPs that Nintendo hold, they have a vast amount to choose from. So what if they dont make new ones every other year? The games that they make are still pretty fun, as side from the past few mario parties and the sloppy metroid game. Yeah I can agree that even though they have an arsenal of first party IPs they've been choosing the same ones for a while now (look at how long it took for us to get another pikmin and luigis mansion. We havnt had a proper metroid game either) Though with retro studios and Nintendo on full force bringing back old Ips as well as making a few new ones that seem to have the potential for sequels, the next few years should look interesting for nintendo

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/468016/star-fox-wii-u-about-a-year-from-completion-miyamoto-says/ Miyamoto says that Star Fox U is about a year away from being completed. Can't wait, personally.
