Fuck yes, you're allowed to share your opinion, but you're not sharing, you're forcing.
"Oh no he said he liked windows 8, is justifying why he likes it compared to his previous OS, and is asking me to defend my opinion, he must be forcing me into it."
You shouldn't hold technology back.
you are actually claiming that he is an opponent of furthering technology because he is against a design decision in an OS
it's even EASIER to use because you can just hit windows key, and then type anything (ie paint) and it will launch that app
Because you can't do that in Windows 7.
Oh wait, you can.
Maybe that's because people don't want windows 7 with tablet tiles.
Yet Microsoft borderline INSISTS they want that.
The stuff "under the hood" are amazing and well needed, but the flashy and gimmicky exterior is something only a mother could love.
Cos people want an OS for a PC not for a tablet.
Welp it's a PC OS obviously, stop being ignorant
it's still there? it's just not visible. It's actually easier to open the Start Screen with your mouse than it was to open the Start Menu, you just literally flick the mouse to the far bottom left of the screen
I heartily disagree; I found it a massive pain in the arse to use the mouse flicking when I tried out the preview.
Uh, no it isn't. You have to use a third-party program to get it back.
The button is there, but instead of a button, you just move and click the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Where is the challenge in that?
Because you can't do that in Windows 7.
Oh wait, you can.
THEN WHAT'S THE FUCKING PROBLEM
you literally just fucking said that windows 8 has the same start menu functionality has windows 7
Because you can't do that in Windows 7.
Oh wait, you can.
I completely accept that people may want to stay on older, supported, operating systems. You're entitled to do that. But it's the people, like you, that come into threads like these shouting "LOL WINDOWS 8 IS SHIT WHERE IS THE START MENU?" with absolutely no idea of what they're talking about that piss me off.
Probably due the fact that if you accidently go too far in any corner something pops up to block whatever you were doing.
People fear change. There was quite a lot of outcry when Windows 95 was released - and look where we are now, only 17 years later Microsoft is trying to actually change the formula. Also, note that it's a different situation than when 7 came out.
Right now there's Windows 7 out on the market, which is quite modern and still supported.
When 7 came out, it had to counter XP, which was already showing its age, and Vista, which wasn't exactly perfect.
The button is there, but instead of a button, you just move and click the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Where is the challenge in that?
Because it isn't button. A button is nice, clearly defined box that you can click.
I love the people rating me dumb without offering to rebuttle as to why the new Start Menu is bad besides "change is bad. It has tiles"
It's a goofy, frivolous addition clearly designed for tablets and the butthurt in this thread sounds like vista all over again.
Because it isn't button. A button is nice, clearly defined box that you can click.
you
holy shit
you can click the bottom left of the screen
you have never used windows 8 have you
THEN WHAT'S THE FUCKING PROBLEM
you literally just fucking said that windows 8 has the same start menu functionality has windows 7
Wait, you said Windows 8 has a better start menu, and I said that it's the same, but somehow that makes you right, because?
it's funny because when w7 was released everyone stayed with XP because "they didn't need to switch" but look at it now
I called people retards for sticking with xp when 7 came out. Unless you had some very specific reasons (I had to keep an xp install because one of the applications I was using for class wouldn't run on anything else, that sort of thing), there was no reason besides being lazy to not upgrade.
This is different. It's a ton of interface changes, and very little to gain, whereas with xp to 7 the interface was mostly the same. You don't get new direct x crap. You don't gain additional out of the box hardware support (with xp you had to slip in drivers to recognize some hard drives, and crap like that). You don't gain all sorts of other support. You gain minor performance benefits, and a better task manager/file transfers. That's 90% of what you gain.
Point being. You can't compare the two reasonably.
Because it isn't button. A button is nice, clearly defined box that you can click.
oh darn you have to move your fucking mouse slightly more into the corner
Because it isn't button. A button is nice, clearly defined box that you can click.
why does it even need a button though? once you clicked in the corner you will forever remember that it's there
I don't get it, Vista was terribly optimised and kept crashing, at least for me. Windows 8 hasn't crashed for me once yet, and it boots up incredibly fast, I like the aesthetics and it has a great upgrade to the Task Manager.
Sure I barely use the start menu, only to search for programmes, but there's a small programme to readd the Start button so there's no real issue. Matter of opinion, of course, but definately better than Vista for me. Better than 7 - optimised, yeah, but not much else. Could have done without the start button removal, though.
I think the only real times 7 has crashed on me was when I didn't put enough thermal paste on my cpu and tried to run arma 2 on the highest settings possible.
you
holy shit

And I said that where exactly? Calm your fucking shit and read my posts.

you obviously haven't look at any of the comparisons between w8 and w7 speed wise
[editline]1st January 2013[/editline]

what the fuck are you talking about
there is no mouse flicking
you just move your mouse to the bottom left and click
what is so hard
Everyone who is opposed to the new start menu has never used it.
It's ok on a small device. To be honest if I were to use windows 8 I should have purchased a convertible tablet instead of a traditional ultraportable.
On a 21in non-touchscreen it's not right, unless I have some sort of mouse that support multitouch however
oh darn you have to move your fucking mouse slightly more into the corner
Oh, I'm sorry for wanting to have nice, clearly defined sections of my user interface that are intuitive to interact with.
I never once said people who use Win7 were idiots, stop acting like I personally insulted you because of your OS. I want to hear why people dislike Win8, rather than have them say "stop saying you like it because you're not allowed to share your opinion on a forum and be pleased with your new OS when people attack it without saying why."
clearly defined? do you not understand where the corner is
let me help you
move your mouse down and to the left, all the way
click
done

THE STAGGERING DIFFERENCE.
if microsoft chooses to just stay what they were, they will stagnate and die. they already missed too much with iphones and all coming out.
and don't tell me that they're too big to fail. they will be destroyed just like apple nearly was in the nineties - all because they just kept doing the same fucking thing instead of adapting to the market.
face it, the world has changed. hate it all you want, disagree with me all you want, but touch is the future, wherever you like it or not.
I recently bought a new computer, and when peicing together the parts, I opted to get windows 8 because it was slightly cheaper, and it came with a windows 7 key if I would rather have it.
Overall, I find it a improvement in some ways, a downgrade in others. Unless you are purchasing a new machine, I really don't see any reason to upgrade from windows 7, and even then, you'll probably want to play around with it a bit to see which you prefer.
a few milliseconds in games???? wow!!!!!!!!!! i'm talking about window handling, booting, etc
