People get butthurt that a screen that makes it easier to launch applications is somehow terrible. Read my previous post to see why they changed it.
I'm sorry to say it, but I really never though that pressing my Start key, entering in like 5 letters of the program name, and hitting enter was all that hard.
An option to revert to the old would be nice. Just saying.

if you don't mind me ill be enjoying the beauty of windows 8 with my ~~pac man championship edition DX~~
[sp]This is sarcasm, I prefer win8 to win7 though[/sp]
Windows 8's non-tablet side is great, but I personally find the tablet interface ugly and inefficient with space.
I don't understand why the people who like Windows 8 are trying to convince the people who hate Windows 8 that it's not such a bad thing. It's their opinion.
Because people base their opinion off of simply untrue facts, or hate the entire OS due to one change (full screen start menu). Battery performance in 8 is like x100 better yet no one cares about that. Or native ISO mounting, USB 3.0, UEFI boot, wayyyyy better multimonitor support, Hyper-V, etc.
It's because current laptops are not designed for Windows 8. Once more laptops come out with the tablet hybrid (I have no idea what it's called) it will be adopted more.

I don't have 84 programs that I use frequently, why should I be made to occupy my ENTIRE SCREEN to look at the >10 programs I do use frequently?

You mean like you're basing part of your opinion off of this random ass "battery is x100 better" statement?
Windows 8's non-tablet side is great, but I personally find the tablet interface ugly and inefficient with space.
Yeah, basically this. The desktop side has seen improvements from 7, but they they decided to bolt a tablet UI on as the default, unchanged.
I've been running 8 for a couple of weeks now, and in that entire time I've probably spent like 5 minutes total using any tablet stuff, since it's just awkward to use (Too many gestures, everything is huge, lots of wasted space, etc.)

Once the majority of PC games require Windows 8, I'll update. Until then, I'll use Windows 7.
Hurpy durp here's a wall of text to explain why what is seemingly shit is actually better and not shit at all.
Only that's not how anything works ever. Windows eight is shitty because of the really obvious reasons, sure it may have some applications that make it superior but in the end it is a closed platform, tablet only apple rip off turd and should just shrivel up, drop off and rot like a lepers cock.

EMMAGHERD. Techno sci-fi not simple looking icons, UGLY!
Gimmicky touch functionality that is worse than keyboard and mouse, NEXT GEN Don't hold it back!
This has probably been said, but when Vista came out, effectively every new computer and laptop came with Vista. It was very hard to avoid.
Now though, you can still get a new machine with Windows 7, hence, the values normally going to 8, go to 7.
Not that surprising considering that new laptop and computer sales overall have stopped. The important thing compared to vista is it's staying power, since a lot of people were downgrading to XP well a year into it's release.
And apart from the start interface, I've heard no criticism at win8 yet really.
Here's my theory.
If you're opening your start menu, why shouldn't it use as much space as possible?
When do you need to open the start menu and ALSO be able to see things in the background?
If you're opening the start menu you're obviously going to be focused only on it.

Too bad I'm the majority amirite.
Enjoy your shitty OS

We should just make it so you can open one program at a time next, I mean if you're not looking at a window why do you need it??
Nothing science can't fix.

We have tablets already why do we even want this.
My poor poor mom bought a new laptop with windows 8, and she's having the hardest damn time. The worst part is, when she calls me in for tech support, I have to fumble around with it for an hour to navigate around. So one day I took the laptop and tried to truly learn Windows 8.
It went terribly with me saying "What the fuck why is it doing this?" more times than I can count. This windows update is just as essential as an update that would hide the start button behind a desktop jigsaw puzzle you have to solve to gain access. "Afraid of change" is a stupid fucking argument. If I ripped your arm off and stitched it to your nutsack, would I say that you were just annoyed because you aren't used to your nutsack arm? No, you would be annoyed because I crippled you. That's what W8 felt like to me and my family.
I'm certainly not afraid if change, I changed to a better operating system the day after I got the RTM
Goodbye Steve Ballmer
How hard is it to figure out Windows 8? A lot of you guys are accustomed to Windows 7, I understand that. But Windows 8 is not that hard at all to grasp. You weirdos really don't like change huh?
Dumb me, I'm right anyway.

That depends, what did you eat? It's probably not much different from my OS giving me hepatitis.

Yeah, this is your fault. Admittedly the OS gives literally the worst tutorial ever, but me and plenty of other people are having no problem whatsoever when we use it.
I honestly got the hang of it when I tried the Consumer preview, the only thing I saw a pain in the ass was shutting down the computer but honestly navigating through the charms menu isnt that bad
alt+f4 on desktop is a great helper too

That shit on the right of the screen? Fuck gestures in all their forms. Just Ctrl-Alt-Delete then hit shut down.
I won't be upgrading to Windows 8 but might upgrade to windows 9 providing it doesn't suck. Also half the reason nobody wants to move to windows 8 is because windows 7 is only three years old.
Windows 7 does absolutely everything I need and it looks sick! Dont have any reason to upgrade because theres no benefits to W8 over W7. Yes it is different, but its not better.
Vista was shit, and that meant W7 was a massive leap from the XP for a lot of people. Thats the kind of difference needed to get people to switch over.
