I liked manuals though :saddowns: They were nice to have around during loading
I hope other companies don't take what Ubisoft is doing, Because I'll be fucking pissed.
I don't read fucking manuals anyway unless its a fat arse book
soon buying games will be just a small paper pack with a small paper with a key on it so you can enter it on some badly made website to download the game once. If you loose the exe, you loose your game...
I remember the days of fat 50+ page manuals with full-color illustrations and all that nice shit. I'll probably never buy a Ubisoft game again, what with the back-asswards DRM and now this.
Yes, this. Ubisoft can go suck an ass. DRM sucks and I miss my awesome novels of guides.
I rather liked the manuals. They're nice to read while the game is installing or during load times and such.
While it can be argued that we pay for the manuals in the total cost; I don't think they'll be lowering the prices now that they've removed them.
I absolutely adored manuals. I always flipped through them reading every single bit (when manuals were huge, not the stupid black and white pamphlet they include now-a-days). I always thought it was so awesome to have a little book with everything you needed to know right next to your desk. X-Com, Civ series, etc. It was also really awesome when they had really creative manuals that were bound differently or had cool artwork. Edit: Besides I hate reading from a computer screen for detailed information. Although it's not like Ubisoft have been making games that involve more than competent motor skills. Where are my incredibly tough and involving games?! Oh well Ubi, you are making some pretty shit decisions lately. Their DRM got cracked like everyone else's (albeit it took longer but still not full proof )
You people are acting as if Ubisoft is the first to do this. I bought Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 and the only "manual" in them was just 1 single piece of paper. On one side was the code to install it on steam. On the other side was the controls. That was all that was included. But noooooo Ubisoft is now the devil right?
But Valve doesn't force you to be connected all the time to play.
PDF manuals > Paper manuals
I think it's a good idea... win win, they save money and trees :D
"Ubisoft" Stopped reading there. Ubisoft make shit games.
The Sims manual was the shit. It was huge, and how Maxis wrote it was genius.
Reminded me of my old Commodore manuals. Without them, I would've never been able to play nostalgic oldtimers. Oh man, I gotta find my Commodore and hook it up again, that thing is nostalgic.
Noo! Not manuals! They smelled so good :crying:
Shaun White skateboarding? Doesn't he snowboard?
who the fuck cares about a piece of paper telling you what to do, the in-game manual is a lot better.

I find it hard without the manual because I can't find the controls without it, and the manual benefits me by making me prepared and adds hype for the game.
i only read them when I'm taking a shit
But, I like manuals. I read them on the way home from the store.
Digital PDF manuals piss me off and I end up printing them anyway, in game manuals are O.K, but never as good as a proper paper one.
"Ubisoft" Stopped reading there. Ubisoft make shit games.
At least they do now. I can't be the only person who remembers these days:

Sooner or later our games will just be USB drives. Plug and play.
I like these game boxes and manuals just because they're fucking cool and geeky. The boxes show how awesome you are when you stack them all up against your wall. As long as the PDF manual (which better be included on the disc in lieu of a paper manual) is super high quality (which, knowing Ubisoft, will be all text and about 3 pages long with 2 of those making up the EULA which basically strips you of all implicit ownership of anything you just bought), I won't mind.
I don't even use manuals anymore. For the most part, a lot of game controls are the same, and I always open up the pause menu if I want explanations or anything, because it's so much quicker. I don't really care.
The manuals always made me feel prepared, i never syatr a game without reading a manual.
I always read the manual when I open the box, not the whole thing but I skim through it just for fun. (PS3 Manuals are good nostalgia material, thick 30-40 page manuals)
Who the hell buys games anymore?
They better make the games cheaper as well then, seeing we don't have to pay for the manual any more.
