Yeah, just like how black people should bleach their skin if they hate being black
haircolor and a tan are not the same as being black
she could change her hair color easily and gotten a tan if she was that uncomfortable
I never understood ginger hate to be honest.
Anagrams.
You can thank South Park for that
People have been bullied for being different long before South Park did it.
haircolor and a tan are not the same as being black

Maybe she was uncomfortable because some assholes decided to bully her? Ever thought about that? Why shouldn´t the bullies stop their bullying? Why are you so damned focused on victim blaming?
If she hated being a ginger so much why didn't she just bleach it and dye it a different colour?
Not that there's anything wrong with the way she looks there though.
Yeah and then she's bullied even more because she gave-in and gave them what they want
Damn its a shame shes actually pretty hot
Why is it that whether or not she was hot matters
A kid was bullied to death because she was born with red hair. Humanity can be fucked up in the most mundane ways.
haircolor and a tan are not the same as being black

you do realize that like 99/100 redheads can't tan??
If she wasn't ginger kids would've found other ways to make fun of her so no
Bullying is bad and this story is sad but the idea of a hate crime is dumb
haircolor and a tan are not the same as being black

My friend was made fun of for being short. I don't understand why he didn't just grow an extra 2 feet! If it made him uncomfortable he should have changed!
I remember reading an article saying that red hair was the last form of completely mainstream discrimination left, that anyone could say anything without any consequences, unlike other forms of discrimination which need to be hidden in order to not be condemned.
It's really fucking dumb. It's just hair. Should not inform anybody's opinions.
It's really fucking dumb. It's just hair. Should not inform anybody's opinions.
And yet, people still think that it's OK to go around making fun of people just because they were born the way they are. Some of them even try defending it citing free speech. If you think that you can class that under free speech, then everybody else is free to call you a bigoted idiot as well
omfg how old are you guys, ''she was hot how could she kill herself, or more importantly, how could anyone bully her??''
i know some of you are probably just messing about but good jesus :v:
I think it's because most people assume when you're bullied, it's because you have some type of reason to use against them eg "you're fat/ugly/weird/nerdy/etc"
not "you're a red head" and when someone looks nice, yet making fun of her looks
it's "What?" to some
but yeah this is fucked up
doesn't matter if it invented it or not, it undeniably exacerbated the issue.
something like this wouldn't have 35 million views without the south park episode about the subject

Sure a video went viral right after the episode, but if South Park really had that kind of influence wouldn't Jews be complaining of suffering discrimination by now after 17 series of being on the receiving end of similar jokes?

I have red hair, from my "experience" on having red hair bullying did pick up after that south park episode about red hairs.
It was made fun of by south park because it was an issue. its just an issue that... caught on as a running joke with the show.
Genuine ginger hate is pretty fucked up to begin with, and I'm not saying this just because freckles and orange hair arrouse me. We're talking about a minority that is slowly disappearing, from a genetical standpoint and from dying. It IS happening that gingers are dying their hair, mostly brown, purely to avoid bullying.
My ex who's going to be a teacher did it, and she was not really confortable when explaining to me her recent change of hair color. And then on top of that you've got people pulling shit like "ginger pussy smells horrible" straight out of their ass and having never tasted it, or "gingers have no souls" when it's not proven that anyone possesses one to begin with.
I find the notion of "hate crime" idiotic in any case. But if you're going to advocate using it for racial and religious purposes, ginger bullying fits the definition no matter what way you look at it. There's already not enough gingers to go around, don't encourage them to dye or die.
As for south park, i blame the viewers for cherrypicking which jokes to perpetuate and which ones not to.
If you're a redhead, like me, do what I did, and grow a beard.
No one fucks with a redhead with a beard because now I look like a viking.
Bad Reading X1
She was pushed far enough that she committed suicide since she couldn't stand it any more.
Yes, and I'm saying that compromising even though she shouldn't have to, is preferable to suicide.
Yeah and then she's bullied even more because she gave-in and gave them what they want
You could always argue this of course.

I can vouch for this, exactly what I did. In reality I grew a beard as a bet with a buddy of mine, the stipulations of which are that I can't shave until I hit my goal weight. Maybe by then it'll be more properly beardlike.
The only thing I don't like about having red hair is that in certain light my chest hair, being as I'm hairy as a goddamn woolly mammoth, looks like it's a coating of cheeto dust. :suicide:

Get a beard and get really muscular, no one will fuck with you regardless.

I wouldn't fuck around with someone whose face is on fire.
Red-hair girls are hot, alteast in my eyes.
Why would someone hate girl for her hair color?
She should've grown a beard.
She should've grown a beard.
And then join a Circus.
No way did she kill herself about the way she looked.
I didn't want to say it because I thought it might be in socially unacceptable but the person below already said it, she was pretty hot [sp]and underage. Great shame[/sp]
What the fuck
You do know that a lot of people who you might find attractive are still feeling very insecure and ashamed of their own perceived ugliness? Just because you think something's not worth feeling suicidal over does not make it so.
You are making probably the most stupid assumption about people's motivations for suicide I've ever heard. Until you actually understand how the psychology of self-perception and self esteem works I don't think you should be expressing your opinions on this subject. Please do some reading about it if you can.
I can say I knew what she went through to a point, being a red head myself. Kids these days are unrelenting in their quest for "im the biggest and best at being a douche". It really is a shame she didnt stick around to find out it gets better as you get older.

While I wasn't being 100% serious, there must have been other problems to go along with it. I don't see how someones choice to commit suicide could come down to just being picked on for that one thing.

this is a truly eye opening post

the problem is im fairly certain the south park writers are fairly clever writers, and the whole ginger hate thing was initially to make fun not of gingers, but of the people who make fun of them. unfortunately their moronic viewer base takes anything on the show as sacred gospel so the hate became genuine. not to indict the writers, but to some extent you need to consider your audience sometimes when employing complex literary/humorist elements like the ever-illusive irony.
