Well, I disagree, there shouldn't be anything in the way of trying to become a politician if you have the knowledge... It's not a serious job anymore, it's a farce. Even here in Latvia politicians are doing nothing (our mayor is a russian sympathiser and he invests the state budget incredibly poorly), and they get 10x higher salary than the minimum wage, it's ridiculous - and I don't remember how much higher the mayor gets. They recently upped their pay to 3000 euros per month averageish depending on role, while also reinforcing the bullshit that just over 300 euros is "already too much" for legal minimum wage, it's incredibly stupid and it's clear that there are still people in power who have out of date values and are evidently living in the past. Speaking about minimum wage also, there's no real "hour minimum" either. Thankfully I'm most likely never gonna have to deal with it because of my job. Politics haven't been serious for a long time and countries which support capitalist views and enable lobbyism are the cause of a knock on effect - politics should be open to anyone actually educated enough to successfully run and having paywalls in the way of that causes more real harm than perceived benefit that people seem to think it has.
