Me: "Oh, I'm sure they just didn't know what that section was about, or there was a mistake, or something." NBC: "No, we knew. We're just insensitive assholes."
That is just really fucking selfish and yeah, I agree with a previous poster. If a 9/11 ceremony was cut out to give a English swimmer an interview, Obama would seriously be flipping some tables in the Whitehouse and have David Cameron on speedial
Ugh. This is a perfect embodiment of the American stereotype in the UK. The idea that Americans see the world as two thirds 'Mericuh and one third "everybody else". Obviously it's just a stereotype and thus means little, but NBC have managed to conform to it entirely. I willing to bet that Americans themselves are more angry about this, as it puts them in such an undeservedly horrible light.
As already suggested using http://www.expatshield.com/ should work well for any Americans and people from any other country that want to watch the bbc coverage. I would suggest using the player at http://www.bbc.co.uk/2012/ and there you can choose from up to 24 live events happening at the time. I'd also really suggest using the extras tab on the player as it is quite informative.
With that logic, shouldn't they not show the Olympic games because they're not in America.
With that logic, shouldn't they not show the Olympic games because they're not in America.
But there are brave American athletes over here in the not-USA-land, so they need to show how they are getting on.
My friend had his uncle die in 9/11, and when I was reading the news, I brought this up he was fucking disgusted because of the lack of respect.
Is it possible for me to apologize on behalf of the stupidity of a corporation that resides in my home country? If so, we're so sorry. I mean, I joke about the whole "america fuck yeah" thing, but this is just too far. This is fucking ridiculous, and an embarrassment to everything that is public broadcasting. The founders of NBC are spinning in their graves fast enough to generate centrifugal force.
Shitty stuff NBC has done. A list every American should know. -Cut the 7/7 tribute for a shitty interview that was pretty boring to be honest. Not to mention they did several other interviews of the SAME PEOPLE in the days after. -Fucked with the George Zimmerman tapes, editing the 911 conversation to make him appear to be racist. -Falsely claimed that Aurora Colorado shooter James Holmes was a member of the Tea Party, then waited almost three hours to announce they were wrong, with a shitty 5 second statement saying "Oh we were wrong." But never admiting guilt for their mistake or saying they were sorry. -They kicked Ann Curry of the Today Show, a veteran journalist with 15 years of experience. And then viewers had to awkwardly watch a tearful goodbye for someone that shouldn't have been kicked off in the first place. And this is only the stuff I can remember in recent memory.

Could NBC be considered the EA of news? [editline]31st July 2012[/editline]
Bob Costas also introduced Uganda by saying "Winston Churchill called Uganda the 'Pearl of Africa,' but he couldn't have foreseen Idi Amin!"
