Using color grading and lens flare in the base game were bad ideas in the first place. ffs
Everything in 15 to the left of the guard post genuinely looks like it could be a photograph.
Thank fuck. Colour temperature is a big thing for me and it's put me off games like BF3 and Human Revolution regardless of how good they are otherwise Probably a very unpopular opinion but that's just me
Well of course they're pissed, they were going to reveal colors in the next Battlefield game.
This is my favourite example How to make thumb?
Hate to be the dude that spent $110 on BF3 only to get banned for making the game look better.
“[It's] too colorful,” Halling tweeted. “Also, I wouldn’t use those hacks if you don’t want a permanent ban on your account. FYI warning.”
All military shooters must be gritty black, brown, and grey. Colors are for sissy games.
He doesn't appear to be specifically threatening anyone. He is likely worried that the cheat detection system will catch it and ban folks.
Sensationalist headlines indeed.
Quick someones trying to improve our game and rip us off from possible future DLC! BAN THEM!
Man BF3 looks a hell of a lot better with that color mod. Holy shit. IMO the blue-greenish tinge always had me really turned me off from buying it originally (that and Origin). I really don't understand why game developers have the need to fuck around with colors in the first place. It's stupid. Leave your fucking game to how it naturally looks and stop with all this post processing bullshit. Honestly if you need to use color gradients for your game it probably means it looks like shit without it (in this case no).
Goddamnit this is why the whole EA hate is fucking stupid half of the time, it's because of shit like this where people just go out of their way to hate them for no real reasons. The way they're removing the color correction is the same way you could make some pretty serious and hard to detect hacks, it doesn't matter what it's doing, what matters is that it's a pretty serious hack changing some core engine files of the game.
I know it's because of how it's done, but
to colorful
really? "We're totally behind modding here at DICE, it's just that our tools are too complex an- WHAT ARE YOU DOING PUTTING COLOR IN A MODERN SHOOTER?"
So all they did was change some colors and the game looked better? If that's all that it took, what the fuck were the developers doing during the making of the game?
Battlefield 3 gameplay designer Gustav Halling said it was “too colorful”
i know, it totally ruins the vibe dude now it looks like the planet we live on instead of some distant galaxy inhabited by persian speaking aliens. ruined it for me
Or they could allow it There's plenty of legitimate file modifications and hooks that VAC overlooks which work exactly like hacks, for example
If they would allow it that would mean they allow hacks that can alter a player's health and weapon damage and that's totally a great idea, right?
If they would allow it that would mean they allow hacks that can alter a player's health and weapon damage and that's totally a great idea, right?
why are those variables handled by the client to begin with
Dice's logic, hey let's put blue colour correction to make it seem cold, bad and shit in middle of fucking desert.
Can actually tell humans apart from unrealistic desaturated blue haze background noise "hacking" Get out Dice.
why are those variables handled by the client to begin with
Because that's how the game works I guess? If it took this long for anyone to actually hack into those files they're obviously doing that part right.
I think the color mod looks good in some places and bad in others. Most of Wake looks good, most of Sharqi looks bad, Karkand is like half and half.
The thing is that it is most likely accessing files that are not meant to be tampered with and could possibly be detected by PB as hacking, which could result in a perma-ban. He is warning of it, but also stating that he happens to not like it.
It looks better but just a bit too colourful. It it were just a little less saturated it would look great. I use an FXAA injector, is that also in the same category as this?
I think this has to do mostly with people potentially using it as an excuse to have modded files in the game. Kind of like texture hacks. So dice is being more zero tolerance against any modding.
IT looks better but just a bit too colourful. IF it were just a little less saturates it would look great.
Pretty sure you can edit the color mod.
it turns a bland black and white game into something unique and vivid ban it!!!! this is why Serious Sam and similar games are amazing. so much color and vividness. No "generic bland colors"
Because that's how the game works I guess? If it took this long for anyone to actually hack into those files they're obviously [b]doing that part right.[b]
Having important variables like health and damage handled by the client is doing it wrong by nature. If they're handled by the server, then hackers can't set their health to constantly be 999 and have their weapon damage at 6 quadrillion a bullet. There's a reason every id Tech based engine (including GoldSrc and Source, and probably CoD as well) has been doing those server side.
Well, this guy seems like a complete dick, it's like he thinks he's better than everyone else. Your blue tint isn't superior to natural colors, buddy.
You guys forgot that the same exploit also allows people to change shit such as health and ammo.
It looks better but just a bit too colourful. It it were just a little less saturated it would look great. I use an FXAA injector, is that also in the same category as this?
The FXAA injector is essentially an overlay so no.
