DICE threatens to ban BF3 users who use color-correction
How would they know you're using it? It's not like DICE keeps up to date with EVERYONE'S game files, it's a 3rd party mod.
I'd assume the same way that VAC deals with people that have manipulated the game's DLLs.
I use specific nvidia color levels to make the game look tons better, try and ban me dice!
BF3 Colour DLC
Someone's going to be buying that.
I'd buy it.
the before shots look too desaturated and the afters look way too saturated :v:

I don't give a shit hohohoho
I prop the person who done these edited screens to show good example of what games in final stage look like, I even remember disabling post processing in Skyrim and it suddenly looked better, less brown.
I stopped playing months ago when punkbuster pissed me off to no end.
The entire time I was playing with all the issues in mind, I was really hoping that they would fix it. Sadly, they did not.
The least they could do is listen to the people that spent money on the game, and make it better.
Dice should suck a dick. Here's how online games and cheating should be handled:
Let the people tinker with the game to a certain degree if they want. Coloring/models/skins, etc etc. What people have done since forever. Then, leave it up to server admins who own their servers (Which your battlelog cherry picks to display anyway you assholes) to police their server for people going beyond that and cheating.
Done

Server admins can't realistically be expected to handle every anti-cheating measure, especially when a lot of hacks/cheats are nearly invisible, and most servers don't have admins on 24/7.
A general system like Punkbuster or VAC is a big help at preventing cheating, as long as its kept up to date and doesn't have any false positives. Since skins and color correction probably wouldn't be in the database of known hacks, they wouldn't be bannable, but a program designed for giving a player an unfair advantage would be. Cases like this would still have an issue, since its both useable as a cheat and for color correction, but if the game was more properly moddable it probably wouldn't be that way.
Similarly you get vac banned for using the GoldSrc bloom mod.

The problem with Punkbuster is it's way more trouble than it isn't. For every one cheat that Punkbuster's caught, 1000 people have been kicked from a server for no real reason because Punkbuster is shit and has problems. VAC isn't instant and you can still cheat unnoticed, just with punkbuster, even in a VAC server. The only REAL way to get cheaters is to have a server admin on and catch it.
Certainly you shouldn't be kicked and banned because you apply (Or remove) a single damn coloring filter.
The ONE thing that Punkbuster was good for, was the screenshot feature. That feature should be automatically built into any multiplayer game, without Punkbuster. Where the Admin can take a screenshot from the eyes of a player, as if that player hit Print Screen himself

Are you talking about the dll that was with some mods, like Cry of Fear? I think they made it stop banning for that, since a lot of people have played those mods recently with no bans.

Punkbuster is definitely not as good as VAC on the detection front, but I don't think you get how VAC is supposed to work. Since new hacks are constantly in development, it needs a delay on its actions so no one knows if a hack is in its database yet. Yes, it allows cheaters to get away with it in the short term, but they'll be banned soon enough and more cheaters can be banned before they move on to a new cheat to avoid detection.
The only REAL way to get cheaters is to have a server admin on and catch it.
But, again, there's no way you can realistically expect every server to have admins on 24/7, and then for those admins to notice more subtle hacks.

I mean the one that could be used with any GoldSrc game. I doubt they would whitelist that.

I know the mod DLLs (at least from Cry of Fear) aren't bannable now, but the bloom one you're talking about is probably different.
It's funny how post processing mods for games are always seen as an 'improvement' which apparently look way better than the original visuals.
The fact is that these mods just screw up the colors most of the times and people probably praise the mods just because they offer something that changes the original product.
But i'm sure sometimes a mod can actually contribute something worthwhile.
It's like he just looked at it and said

Okay DICE you are now added to black list

another example of someone who read the thread title and immediately started smashing his keyboard without actually reading the op, perhaps in future you should read it instead of having a tantrum of your own. by banning for the colour correction they're also banning people for removing the suppression feature from the game along with other stuff. Shame they can't just release a colour thing in a separate mod that doesn't get you banned.

Weapon values in the editor, you can change ironsight FOV, spread, recoil, damage, ammo counts and more, the other values are within the categories on the left.
Example of edited M16 from back when he was testing the values 11 months ago:

Now quit ranting, DICE fucked up and they don't want to make it public.
FYI They are banning for a legitimate reason.
DICE just needs to add squinting so you can avoid the lens flare.

That's an OpenGL wrapper which VAC no likey.
It's definitely more realistic than Borderlands, Quake, Halo or TF2
Bf3 is just as much of an arcade game like cod.
The #1 thing I hate about "realistic" games is that you can't shoot while moving at all. There aren't any options between slow walk and sprint with weapon lowered. In reality you can hold and aim a rifle while running, it's just very hard to control. A lightweight pistol is relatively accurate while running.
Bf3 is just as much of an arcade game like cod.
Bullet velocity and drop, realistic map scales, better gun and explosion sounds. still arcadey but one of the things that makes cod so fun is the fact it's the most arcadey fps out there
I had to quit playing Battlesmurfs 3 because the games visuals were straining my eyes too much. A couple of hours playing the game and I would get a splitting headache.
I really don't get the whole color grading and other effects shit that some developers seem addicted to. You have a beautiful game, why rape it up the ass with cheap effects? It's like snapping a nice picture of a sunset at a beach and then photoshopping sun flares and other shit on to it just because you can.

Cod is way to unbalaned to me to be fun
holy fuck that looks awesome, i like how exaggerated the water is, if DICE released the game looking like that it'd be awesome
if i ever get back into BF3 I know what mod to use

I kinda like the final product but I think it would look much better for a Horror or psychological game rather then bland shooter 3 though.

at least it's not as bad as killing floor. i understand why they did it but it still makes my eyes hurt
color filters should be illegal
Colour grading can be really powerful when used correctly, but it just gets abused horrifically. BF3 looks alright without it, but most mods for it over saturate the colours (I've been meaning to adjust the SMAA injector saturation). If the blue was toned down even by half, the game would look better and still have the feel DICE were going for, just much less washed out. It's the same with Hollywood and the damn cyan/ orange colour grading they slap on all live action action films. People end up looking orange and the sky looks stupidly blue when muppets like Bay use it (see: any Transformers film).
