Looks like Transformers' bid didn't pay off.
How come Lego movie isn't nominated for best animated feature?

Where the fuck is the Lego movie for best animated?
Live action segment. And Academy hates Will Ferrell, so there's that.
Live action segment. And Academy hates Will Ferrell, so there's that.
there was live action in WALL-E check mate academy
there was live action in WALL-E check mate academy
I know, but it fooled me, because I thought it was just some highly realistic CGI, so Acadamy could've not notice it. Or have some special privilege for Pixar, because it's Pixar.
Gotta say, I'm surprised and a bit annoyed that Billy Boyd's Last Goodbye from the credits of Battle of Five Armies didn't get nominated. Really good song, and does a great job of capturing the overall feel in regards to the entire Tolkien film series coming to an end. Say what you want about the movies but the song was perfect.
Big Freudian slip there one of the announcers read out Dick Pope as "Dick Poop" :v:
No Lego Movie for animated and no Jake Gyllenhaal for best actor is absolutely mind boggling. They were both clear standouts to me over the majority of other choices in each category - for neither to at least be nominated is insane.
Live action segment. And Academy hates Will Ferrell, so there's that.
It seems to fit the definition well enough:
An animated feature film is defined as a motion picture with a running time of more than 40 minutes, in which movement and characters’ performances are created using a frame-by-frame technique. Motion capture by itself is not an animation technique. In addition, a significant number of the major characters must be animated, and animation must figure in no less than 75 percent of the picture’s running time
Granted I haven't rewatched it with a stopwatch, but the movie's 100 minutes long and I don't think the live-action segments were more than 25.
Is their something I'm missing here? Theirs movies a lot better than the ones on the list for best picture, like where is Guardians of the Galaxy? American Sniper isn't even that good either, what a joke.
I think Guardians should have gotten a nod for Production Design. I may just still be mad about Pacific Rim getting snubbed last year, though.
At least it isn't the joke that is the Golden Globes
Is their something I'm missing here? Theirs movies a lot better than the ones on the list for best picture, like where is Guardians of the Galaxy? American Sniper isn't even that good either, what a joke.
no GotG being nominated would be a joke

American Sniper isn't even that good either, what a joke.
lmao is this a joke The Academy Awards doesn't nominate blockbusters much. At least not lately. The closest they could have gotten would have been Rise of the Planet of the Apes because it was a very good movie. However, Guardians of the Galaxy is for one, a straight comedy action film, with lots of explosions and stuff. The Academy Awards just has not liked this type of movie for a long time. The last blockbuster they gave an award to was Lord of the Rings 3. Also, there is actually no way, by the way, for you to have seen American Sniper unless you live in an area where the 4 movie theaters came out or you pirated it. The Academy loves Clint Eastwood and they also love realistic war stories (The Hurt Locker) so it's 100% expected for at least the Academy to give it the nom.
I've had enough of Meryl Streep. We know she's good, she knows she's good, give somebody else a chance. Also glad The Hobbit isn't up for visual effects because that soft bloom in the movie made everything look even shittier.
-everyone else said it-
Why grand budapest get so many nomissions when I remember moonrise kingdom not gething any?
nightcrawler got snubbed badly. [editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
Why grand budapest get so many nomissions when I remember moonrise kingdom not gething any?
because moonrise didn't make as big an impact. the oscars aren't really about "best", but more to do with social impact. [editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
You know what I just realized? Gyllenhaal didn't get a nomination. Now that is bullshit.
cumbermunch was such an obvious choice it's sad really.
Is American Sniper good?
If into the woods wins anything will it's rotten tomatoes score go up?
I think it's bs that Bradly Cooper is up for best actor but not Jake Gyllenhaal. He was astounding in Night Crawler.
The reason the Lego Movie didn't get nominated for animated is because the academy is a joke. If you ain't Disney no one bothers to watch it because it's not worth their precious time.

The fucking Razzies are more professional than this shit. "Life's too short" I bet it takes an hour to watch all those shorts, what better thing did they have to do?
what a joke of a list.
The only thing I know about Boyhood is that Mike and Jay hated it. Personally I think Interstellar should've been nominated for best picture. Sure, there are a lot of inconsistencies, but it had loads of suspense and it looked amazing. Haven't seen American Sniper, but it seems like it might be kinda the same deal as The Hurt Locker? That movie won a lot of stuff, but honestly I don't think it was that great. Which reminds me that Avatar was nominated for best picture that year, which is a total joke. If that shit got nominated, Interstellar definitely should.
I really need to stop following these sorts of award shows - the voting process for all of them is totally fucked. In the Oscars, animation and shorts are repeatedly snubbed, and after the Grammys snubbed Kendrick Lamar last year I can't take any of these awards seriously at all.
I'm really surprised that hobbit wasn't nominated for best visual effects. The whole goddamn movie was a visual effect EDIT: Three marvel films got their nom tho which seems just a bit suspicious
Birdman is apparently glorious. Gonna have to watch that now
