You've got it right, twice over. In Skyward Sword the final boss proclaims that his descendant/reincarnation will destroy their descendants (basically foreshadowing Ganondorf).

In Ocarina of Time Ganondorf, after defeat, basically tells Link and Zelda that their fight will happen again over and over, through their descendants. The major difference here is that while it's not always the same Link/Zelda, it's always the same Ganondorf.

I would play a black female character. I had no problems playing as Yuna in FFX-2, in fact, it's one of my all time favorite games, it would not have been any different had she been black, indian, w/e. It's about the story and the game. I could GAF less what the character looks like, as long as the story fits.

Now, with that being said, I don't think it would be a smart move making Link a black woman. This game has been going on for as long as I can remember. I think too extreme of a change would make it feel like it wasn't the same game, but a spin-off of the franchise instead. I just think that in the LOZ franchise, it would feel "out of place" due to what LOZ has always been.
