There's quite a few rumours (I think it was even confirmed) that a lot of insurgents from Iraq left to fight Gaddafi.
Not really.
daily mail: flag with arabic on it = terrorist flag
It's not strictly the al-Qaeda flag, it's an Islamic independence flag isn't it? al-Qaeda have used similar ones, but not the same one.
Huh, since when did Al-Qaeda have a flag?
Mods. Please. For the love of God make posting the Daily Mail as a source a bannable offense. it's akin to posting The Onion.
That's a pretty great flag
better than libyas old one
better than libyas old one
fact:libya went through a green crayon shortage when khaddaffi implemented mandatory schooling
Is the Daily Mail really that bad? Being an American, I'm not familiar to what it may be akin to.
It's the UK version of Fox News in handy paper format. Same thing with The Sun. Oh, and the Daily Express. (Yes, most of our national newspapers are scaremongering bullshit rags)
Is the Daily Mail really that bad? Being an American, I'm not familiar to what it may be akin to.
Well the issue is it's the same in reverse, the only US news outlet I can compare them to is like a muted version of Fox news. They're articles are basically written to incite fear in everyone, nearly every day they have something about an everyday object giving you cancer, or immigrants taking all the jobs. It's a very annoying thing to read honestly
Is the Daily Mail really that bad? Being an American, I'm not familiar to what it may be akin to.
Is isn't as bad as some people make out but it is pretty shitty. They stretch stuff to the extremes to meet their right wing agenda. Not to mention they seem to neglect to report on some things. They also go out of their way to incite fear (claiming everything causes cancer, claiming that the UK is being overrun by immigrants etc). They don't quite make up news stories though, I think that's where they draw the line.
It's not that flag. I'm pretty sure that it is this one. If so, that's a flag of the Islamic State of Iraq, which is apparently an umbrella organisation of various insurgent groups, including Al Qaeda. Of course, wikipedia was the source here, so take it with a pinch of salt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_State_of_Iraq
It's an Al Shabaab flag: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_shabab
That's just great. We fight them for 10 years only to help give them their own fuckin' country!
Al Qaeda =/= Taliban
It's an Al Shabaab flag: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_shabab
Assuming it is that flag then its a massive journalist fail. This is why people who should do their research before they post things on the internet (and I am not talking about the OP). It seems that the photographer saw Arabic on a flag and assumed it was Al Qaeda and then mainstream media (IE the Daily Mail) picked up on it. Of course its very hard to tell from the low res images. The file photo they are claiming is the Al Qaeda flag is the Al Shabaab flag. That's shocking journalism really.

Being that it's the Daily Mail I'm not all too surprised. These are the same guys that use "man-eater", "jaws" and pictures of scary great whites for all shark attack cases. Sensationalism to the max.

Doesn't explain why the Daily Mail (or anyone) would class their flag as the flag of Al Qaeda though.

Its the same for people hating muslims, just because someone is a terrorist, does it mean the whole religion is about terrorizing people?
An absolute bastard for school kids to draw
Not if you use crayon! Crayon shows up on black paper. [editline]1st November 2011[/editline] I miss using crayons, I think I'm going to buy some tomorrow
Which brand? German crayons are best crayons.
I don't know but when I was a little kid I knew the crayola ones tasted pretty good
I don't know but when I was a little kid I knew the crayola ones tasted pretty good
I prefer the Herlitz ones.
That's a pretty great flag
That's a pathetic design. I prefer this:

When did it become okay to put words on flags? Draw that shit you lazy fuckers
more fear mongering by shitty tabloid newspapers
I was about to say this. I would like to add the word political to that though.
