that's the beautiful thing about the internet, if you don't like the way a site is run you can go somewhere else or start your own community
If you dont like how a country is run you could just go somewhere else or start your own country
Good luck though lmao, not happening. Kind of the same deal with these ultra-large websites like Twitter, Youtube, Facebook and Reddit. They have incredible influence and power, simply going somewhere else is not a real solution.

TO BE FAIR leaving a country is much much much harder than leaving a site.
TO BE FAIR leaving a country is much much much harder than leaving a site.
Arguably, but the influence of the very largest websites has grown incredibly large.
Who gives a shit, really
Next time, don't slander some random ass people + a candidate you don't like because of some bullshit rumor that links deep dish pizza to deep dicked minors.
Arguably, but the influence of the very largest websites has grown incredibly large.
It's not even arguable. It's straight up fact. Leaving your current country because you don't like the way it's being run is much harder than leaving a site like Reddit and starting your own.
Leaving a country is an incredibly expensive endeavour, and if you can't find a country that you do like good luck starting your own. Kinda need land for that. Kinda not got much of that going that is also viable for a new state.
Want to leave Reddit because it's a "liberal hugbox" or whatever? Easy. Spend a considerably lower amount of money compared to moving to rent a dedicated server somewhere, or run one from your basement. Use the myriad of free software available to run the server itself and provide the web service needed. Spend a bit of money for some Google SEO work and ad rotations. Blam. Sure you might not be as big as Reddit, but you've now got your own little space on the web where the "liebrals" can't "censor" your dumb thoughts any more.
Those are all actually reasons to ban a subreddit, and subreddits have been banned for breaking them before. Doxxing, brigading, etc. are all against global forum rules and if any subreddit allows them to happen why shouldn't that subreddit be banned?
SRS got closed down and its mods banned?
when?

In both cases it is essentially an impossibility for the average person.
If anyone cares what an ALLEGEDLY default mod has to say about r/the_donald, and a background on r/the_donald there's a top 3 post on r/all right now.

Really, you can just backup everything they say by looking in the comments. r/the_donald users are focusing on the fact that u/spez is a child, and the fact that other default moderators are terrible.
Removing content constitutes the same kind of liability, they didn't open themselves up to anything new.
Removing content is in no way on the same level of blatantly impersonating someone. Him simply being capable of directly editing peoples posts (and I don't mean editing the database) could be used in such a way as to change the course of someones life.

I'm not seeing any comments solely talking about what spez did. And the_donald users are right, the default mods are terrible. They have obvious left wing bias in their moderation. the_donald also has to deal with being called racists, sexists, misogynists, and islamophobics, yet, none of those things are actually present to some notable degree in the_donald. Thats where a lot of their anger comes from. They downvote and delete all of those types of comments, but are then judged for supporting them.

What the comments have to say are so much more educational than the actual post itself.
Between the powermods that own and squat on literally thousands of subs, or how OP was leaving out as much of the conversation as possible to make T_D look bad, make sure to give the entire thread a good read.

Not to be insensitive, but when you are the mod of something like reddit, you will probably get alot of shit thrown at you.
Hell I get freaking death threats just for playing badly in rainbow six siege.
I feel bad for the guy, but I though it was odd he was pointing out "doxxing, the brigading, the harassment, and the vote manipulation." and then only proceeded to elaborate on the harassing after that.

The statute says moderation of any kind puts them at risk of that. There is no difference between him editing a post and them deleting certain subreddits and posts. The law isn't concerned with changing someones life, it's concerned with websites creating biased narratives ALA the case posted above. By selectively removing posts you're doing the exact same narrative building.

Considering people have tried to start brigades on Facepunch from r/the_donald is it really so much of a surprise that it happens.
As a subreddit moderator I'd like to point out that I've never had the power to edit anyone's posts.

The point of /all was to give users what's trending everywhere on the site.
He just made /all into another front page.

r/the_donald is taking it well.
they're complaining about censorship when spez removed the exploit that boosted content to the front page via stickying (only applies to them since they do it all the time), and allowing people to filter out content they don't like.
also they created another subreddit to bypass the sticky restrictions
and one of the mods is doing the "YOUR SUBREDDIT IS NEXT" bullshit
The point of /all was to give users what's trending everywhere on the site.

Not really since r/all is now everything that's going on except the subreddits I dislike
where r/front is everything that's going on in the subreddits I like
I think it's obnoxious that the restriction only applies to T-D. Make your rules apply to everyone or don't make them at all. This sets an awful precedent.
That being said, I don't really care if stickies get onto the front page or not.

Is it confirmed that the sticky fix is only for T_D? I think T_D is a shithouse but I do agree that they should just fix the exploit globally rather than actively silencing a sub. It just leaves the door open for another sub to abuse the same exploit and like you said, sets a poor precedent for neutrality on the site.

not really because r/the_donald has a tendency to exploit the system to get more votes
Also I just want to take a minute to express that /r/EnoughTrumpSpam is by far the worst fucking sub in history. "Hey guys, you know how The_Donald is super annoying and constantly bots its way to the front page to push obnoxious and stupid content 24/7?? Let's do that, only with anti-Trump posts! Surely that will teach them a lesson!". All they're doing is shitting up /r/all, further encouraging T_D to react and keep spamming, and everyone is just caught in the crossfire of the two dumbest subs on the site having a battle about shit nobody fucking cares about. I'm so tired of seeing "DONALD TRUMP HATES THIS PHOTO. LETS MAKE SURE THIS IS THE FIRST RESULT WHEN YOU GOOGLE HIS NAME!!!!!!!!!!"

Then fix it so that nobody can exploit the system? Duh?
