YHZ is third for it's size (under 5 million). Nice.
incheon's airport is pretty baller, it's super clean and in general just gigantic.
The worst airport I've been to was in New York. Terminal had two places where you could buy food, and both of them sucked immense dick. Expensive, incredibly shitty service and their card reader for some reason rejected my card, so I had to withdraw from an ATM (where you have to withdraw at least $30 at a shitty exchange rate - and I was about to go home). So from my singular experience, yes the US airports suck.
Its kind of odd, knowing that New York has a fuckton of tourist coming in, and yet the airport is still terrible. It doesn't only applies to New York, but with so many tourist coming in to America everyday, wouldn't the airports be a bit better equipped? America as a whole, could use better transportation. You guys are only picking up high speed rails now.
Singapore's Changi Airport is amazing holy hell. I love the service their airline gives as well
Another vote for Schiphol. Really cool place that's pretty well designed. Heathrow was miles behind, neat in its infrastructure but it's seriously way too big. We had to walk for half an hour past tons of disused gates to get to our flight, and on the way back out, the whole terminal was under construction so there were no shops open and all the lights were off. Frankly Denver should have bumped them off. I fly in/out of there and it's totally fine. For one of the highest-capacity airports in the US, it really feels small but not too crowded. They were still up top for US and not far behind Heathrow worldwide though.
and this is before they start on this $1.57 billion terminal expansion project; http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/singapore/story/changi-airport-and-capitamalls-joint-venture-run-147-billion-project-j [editline]4th November 2014[/editline] it's got a 40m waterfall and shit
Aren't airports in the US the most paranoid places? Since 9/11 it's been something along the lines of "You! Get in line! Drop your bags! Welcome to the land of the free!" says the officer with the machinegun.
You've never even been here, have you?
Heathrow is like a god damn city, US airports are a clusterfuck

HK's baggage system is top notch. You can go to one of the subway stations on the island - a half hour monorail ride from the airport itself - and all the airlines have booths there. You check your baggage and it's automatically ferried across on the next monorail and checked in automatically, up to 24 hours in advance.
My only complaint about US airports is how slow it is to go through security. Then again, my only actual experience of a US airport is Washington Dulles intl. By far my strangest experience was in Frankfurt, Germany. It's a lovely airport, but after coming back from a trip to the United States I was intercepted by several armed border control officers immediately after I got off the plane and went to look at where my connecting flight was leaving from. One of them approached me, said "Come with me sir" and took me into an empty, unmarked room and ordered me to empty out the contents of my bag. I did as I was told, they looked through it for several minutes, asked me some really strange questions like "Who were you staying with in the United States," "Did you buy anything from the US?" and my personal favorite "You don't mind if we look through your bag, do you?" after they'd already ordered me to empty it out onto a table in the presence of armed guards. I mean, I wouldn't have said no anyway, but they were putting up quite a threatening atmosphere. After fifteen or twenty minutes of them looking really puzzled and unsure, they talked amongst themselves, re-packed it all for me, gave it back to me and told me I was free to go. It was bizarre. It definitely wasn't a regular customs random sting because they took very special care to search my bag, but didn't sweep it for drugs or anything else. I assume it may have been a case of mistaken identity.
