Hopefully they'll get it right next time
You have to wonder, at what point did they realise they had the wrong guy? Did they pick up the head and just go "Well dang it boys! We got the wrong guy!"
How big of a fruit basket do you have to send for that?
Forget the fruit basket, you're in Edible Arrangements territory.

if you read the article you would know they spread a picture of them with the head bragging about it and an isis spokesperson identified it as one of their fighters.
I wonder, at what point in time did people start using religion as a means of controlling others.
for the past, like, few thousand years? at the very minimum
It's okay. We forgive you.
I don't think the Navy SEALs will.
The irony is that the US government will usually give some form of payment to go along with their apologies.
Bumbling amateur terrorists could make a good sitcom

You gotta rub their noses in it or they'll do it again.
Apology accepted Al-Qaeda.
If they think forgiving them means delivering them freedom in form of bombs they sure can have it

At the point where they pulled the burlap sack off the decapitated head.

Hell yeah, we're gonna liberate the fuck out of them!
Yeah okay. Because they haven't been using this religion as a cover to further their own shitty agendas.
Allah will forgive them because they say Allah will.
I have to hand it to them though, it's an absolutely GENIUS way to manipulate others into doing your bidding. The perfect way to practically enslave these people that value their religion so highly.
(if you want to call it enslavement, even though they're still acting of their own free will. It's probably more accurate to say that these people turned insurgents are being tricked into doing all of this horrible shit; and are just blindly believing that it's the right thing)
this is why we even have problems like this...Christianity is 100% not OK with accidental killings , even the crusaders needed papal insurance that they wouldn't go to hell for being on the crusade before they left. these guys aren't even extremists, just foot , still with all the death around them that probably is the real excuse, they just don't care

I just imagine, they behedded the guy, took the sack off and said "shit this was black Steve not white Steve, guys we got the wrong guy..."

I don't think anyone really does. I was being sarcastic, it really shows how stupid hawk18727 is though.
It's just a flesh wound.
its funny because al-qaeda isn't really that religious
yeah yeah allah and all that shit but its more about the fat stacks and ability to scare people by being there
i wouldn't be too quick to assume that. keep in mind that all of these people are still, y'know, people.
like, for example. hitler legitimately believed that he was destined by his creator to lead Germany into a new age. he saw his actions, however heinous, as steps towards an objective good - in his eyes, he was helping the human race. same thing with stalin - the man was power-hungry because of his convictions; he saw his interpretation of marxist-leninism as the penultimate future of the earth as a natural social progression away from capitalism, and as a result he saw himself as best fit to lead the world into this new age. he saw anyone that threatened his power or his ideology as an enemy not just to himself, but to the inevitable tide of the planet toward a greater good. hence partially why he executed large swaths of political dissidents. both of these individuals had psychological issues, keep in mind.
point being that, especially in the case of al-qaeda and the taliban, people put in desperate situations are made open to extreme ideologies. the depressing reality of the situation is that a lot of these people want to do what they think is right and good for the world, and probably take some form of solace in the things they believe. deliberately intentional malice and greed have little to do with it.
Does it make me a bad person if I found the pink stripe shirt guy hot..?
