Now lots of articles give her credit for the Falklands war victory, in so far as her leadership is concerned. But there's no way the UK should get its ass kicked by Argentina, no frickin' way! How do you get credit for winning something that you should not lose to begin with?
Well the MOD had no contingency plans for what would happen if the Falklands were invaded, The Falklands are 400 miles away from Argentina, Argentina had a large military budget and supplies from it's neighbours, Britain was cutting back military spending inline with other public sector cuts.
The death of Margaret Thatcher was a "great day" for coal miners, David Hopper, general secretary of the Durham Miners' Association said today. The ex-miner, who turned 70 today, spent all of his working life at Wearmouth Colliery. He said: "It looks like one of the best birthdays I have ever had. "There's no sympathy from me for what she did to our community. She destroyed our community, our villages and our people. "For the union this could not come soon enough and I'm pleased that I have outlived her."
"muh coal mines" this indicates a northerner's lack of understanding
For someone who was so hated by a country its a bit bizarre she was reelected 3 times, don't you think?
"muh coal mines" this indicates a northerner's lack of understanding
There's something really fucked up with this country when the head of the former Soviet Union gives a better eulogy than a citizen of the country.
For someone who was so hated by a country its a bit bizarre she was reelected 3 times, don't you think?
She was popular until Labour started a hate campaign while simultaneously copying her policies
"muh coal mines" this indicates a northerner's lack of understanding
It's David Hopper, he thrives on the attention he gets from being a moron (see: his decision to remove the DMA's flag from Sunderland's stadium because they hired Paolo Di Canio).

There was no way, unless the UK didn't want the Falklands, that Argentina was going to win that, same as now.
David Cameron:
He also said, "Margaret Thatcher was a great prime minister, a great leader, and a great Briton."
Mr Gorbachev,” said Margaret Thatcher, “can we be absolutely frank with each other?” He replied through the interpreters that yes, indeed they could. “Good,” she cried, “because I want you to know that I hate Communism.”
I'm an American who knows almost nothing about her policies, but that's pretty badass.
galloway is a fucking joke
I imagine he does half of this shit for publicity.
I imagine he does half of this shit for publicity.
i heard him on the radio the other day claiming that north korea was the victim in the recent tensions
I think some people need to read this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11518331 It's literally an over-view of her career and why people do/don't like her
Through some Wikipedia reading I ended up at the article about the Falklands Invasion - this is the actual correspondence between the Falklands and London after the invasion: LON (London): HELLO THERE WHAT ARE ALL THESE RUMOURS WE HEAR THIS IS LON FK (Falklands): WE HAVE LOTS OF NEW FRIENDS LON: WHAT ABOUT INVASION RUMOURS FK: THOSE ARE THE FRIENDS I WAS MEANING LON: THEY HAVE LANDED FK: ABSOLUTELY LON: ARE YOU OPEN FOR TRAFFIC IE NORMAL TELEX SERVICE FK: NO ORDERS ON THAT YET ONE MUST OBEY ORDERS LON: WHOSE ORDERS FK: THE NEW GOVERNORS LON: ARGENTINA FK: YES LON: ARE THE ARGENTINIANS IN CONTROL FK: YES YOU CAN'T ARGUE WITH THOUSANDS OF TROOPS PLUS ENORMOUS NAVY SUPPORT WHEN YOU ARE ONLY 1600 STRONG. STAND BY. I found it somewhat humorous.
muh coal ;_;
"muh coal mines" this indicates a northerner's lack of understanding
Reality hits hard, but the coal mines had to shut down.
For someone who was so hated by a country its a bit bizarre she was reelected 3 times, don't you think?
Dubya.
I think a lot of people are celebrating her death like she was awful to them, despite her having no effect on their lives, just to join the bandwagon. Uncool.
And on the day of her death this is also in the news
I still can't see how celebrating her death is okay, especially when it's been two decades since she left office.
I dislike what she did during her term in office as much as any Briton but she was, what, an 87 year old woman today when she died. She doesn't owe any of us anything anymore as shes paid the ultimate price. (having said that she should have been made to pay an obscene tax on that ultimate price)
Funny that the "terrorist" nelson mandela is still alive
Funny that the "terrorist" nelson mandela is still alive
What?
Well my Dad'll be pleased. I can't think of anyone else I know that hated Thatcher as much as he does. He's going to have a field day on Facebook arguing with Tories, that's for sure. I remember once he was arguing with some guy about my age who arguged Thatcherism was the best thing that had happened to this country. If I remember correctly I think he shut him down with a "You were born in 1990, don't talk to me about something you weren't alive to see."
how are they going to bury her there's nobody left in britain to dig holes
I think a lot of people are celebrating her death like she was awful to them, despite her having no effect on their lives, just to join the bandwagon. Uncool.
A lot of recent and current policy continues to be affected and influenced by seeds she planted when she was in power.
What?
mandela was head of a bona fide terrorist organization i mean yeah afterwards he was voted in and had a legit government but that doesn't negate the fact that his organization did shit like putting people in tires and setting them on fire
A lot of recent and current policy continues to be affected and influenced by seeds she planted when she was in power.
IIRC People are calling the current "Benefits Leech" mentality a sort of neo-thatcherism.
