Pretty sure it's fairly normal to see furries are comicon, it is a convention afterall.
Its just like with anime and cosplay. People like it so much that there is a convention that people can go to dressed as their favorite characters. For furry conventions, theres a large number of furries that they have a convention that people go to dressed up! Would they do creepy things at the conventions? Maybe some of the more insane ones would, but pretty much furry conventions are full of sane individuals who just want to hang out and not be told to act human.
Edit: And almost any convention would have furries. Comic conventions, sci-fi, etc. Hell, I saw about 3-5 people in a furry costume at the anime convention this weekend!! And people just treat them normal.

We claim that you're judging an entire group of people by a few who are notably further from social norms, then you take the group of few whom you use to represent the whole and, without any source or legitimate backing, use them to judge the entire group.
