I asked my Atheist Great Grandfather about what he thought of religious people "Let me live free and they too shall live free"
I asked my Atheist Great Grandfather about what he thought of religious people "Let me live free and they too shall live free"
Not a bad quote.
Too bad the premise is false.
Huh, they're posting one in Paterson? Might expect some backlash there. Being part of that community, I'm going to assume that it definitely won't make the population here happy. Oh well, just got to wait and see, I suppose.
It's funny because the ancestors of the people who made this were probably Confederates. AKA traitors to the United States.
Are you serious? Those people didn't see themselves as traitors at all. They wanted to keep their livelihood under their grip, even if it was inhumane. By separating from the U.S., they were trying to establish a point, not make the founders roll in their graves.
"We’re not particularly disturbed about it,” said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American Islamic Relations. "We believe it’s their First Amendment right to put them up. … Obviously they placed them to be provocative, but that’s also their right."
Damn, we seriously need more guys like this. He seems pretty chill.
Ganuermo just can't seem to wrap his head around history and the problem of belief. There have been other religions around the world believed EVERY little bit as much as contemporary ones, and we regularly refer to them as "mythologies" and not religions because we don't deem them that worth of it, yet they are every bit as credible as modern religions. Why is it "offensive" to call it a myth when by all intents and purposes, nothing can prove it true and we can only use faith to hold it as true? That makes little sense to me as how that's offensive for a rational person. The hypocrisy you've exhibited in this thread is laughable.
To be honest, Hasidic Jews are like Fundamental Islamists (Ala Iran's government). I forgot where exactly (Somewhere on Yahoo News) an article on someone's book about the harsh extremist conditions that someone had went through as a female (In the United States) in a Hasidic community, before escaping it when she was older. She gets death threats in the mail from everyone in the Hasidic community now, be it the old or young, and even people on the other side of the country who heard about her rejecting it. So, yeah, as a proud atheist, I'm going to agree with this billboard, and I'm going to have to say that it's a myth, and they know they have a choice
I'm an Atheist and even I think this was a bad idea... knowing it would cause shit anyways...
(Argh, my automerge) Whoa, whoa, should've read the rest of the thread to see what everyone's talking about now
